I've been trying to find any decent info on the stand alone blu-ray of The Haunting of Bryan Becket (known as The Skeptic in other territories) or the combo pack with 2009's Possession, but have yet to find much about the details of either disk. JB Hi-Fi has the 2-pack, while I've seen a more expensive import of the stand alone on the U.S. Amazon.com and E-Bay sites.
If anyone has access to any info, I'd like to know whether the stand alone is a 50 GB disk, the combo is a 2 disk pack or a single disk (and if it's a single disk and the stand alone is 50GB is there a loss in file size/quality), and what the audio track is (/tracks are; the French and German disks are listed as DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1)? For those that have not seen it, it's really a terrific modern ghost story/mystery in the tradition of The Changeling. Last edited by DarknessBDJM; 07-31-2011 at 09:01 PM. |

Update: I decided to order the Haunting of Bryan Beckett+Possession (the 2009 thriller, not the Zulawsi film) combo pack from JB Hi Fi, and just received it today (very fast shipping actually considering the distance involved as I am located on the east coast of the U.S.).
I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised that the case came with two separate disks and not both films combined onto one 50GB blu-ray disk. The Haunting of Bryan Beckett (The Skeptic) has a total disk size of a over 21GB (if my memory is correct), the video file size is 19.7GB (also if I'm remembering correctly) and has an average bitrate of around 30mbps at 1080p. The disk has two audio options, a 5.1 DTS-MA audio track and a 640 kbps 5.1 Dolby track. The video quality looks good to me, and especially shines in the autumn exteriors that have a fantastic Halloween atmosphere, the dimly lit interiors show good detail in dark areas and strong black levels; the excellent score sounds really nice on the track as well. The Possession disk seems to be the same one as the U.S. disk, solid video and audio quality (and it actually has a lower bitrate than The Haunting of Bryan Beckett) and the same extras.
