Default ONKYO BD-SP309 Blu-ray Player

The ONKYO BD-SP309 Blu-ray Player is not wireless which the blu-ray.com website says. But it is very quiet to run and easy to set up but again it's not noisy like some of blu-ray players are one big plus is that it's simple to set up unlike most of them are. Onkyo did it right also it's 3D. There's nothing fancy about it but so far It's done what you would expect from a 3D blu-ray player also it will play in all regions it must say for Blu-rays either A for ALL or 1 or ALL for DVDS The website needs to correct those specs because it's not wireless and it will play in all regions but will not play PAL movies all though I can't find information on that in the manual.

Hi,
I'm interested that you find this player to be quiet in operation - I bought one but it makes a very annoying high pitched noise during BD playback, starting out noisiest when the disk is spinning fastest then gradually decreasing until it is acceptable after around 45 minutes. It's okay with DVDs.

Think I will return it for a replacement as it sounds like I have a faulty unit and this problem is not universal.

I'm delighted with the picture quality so want to keep it if possible - I was able to compare it directly to a Sony s760 and the build quality, picture quality and sound (from the speakers!) was noticeably superior on the Onkyo.

I think it's pretty quiet, as well. It takes up a very small footprint and does precisely what I need it to do: play the BD's well and upconvert the DVD's in my collection to acceptable levels of clarity. For $200, it's not half-bad.
