Default Moving my HT into the living room

I haven't updated my profile photos yet, but thought I would post a few initial shots here. I needed to move all my gear out of a bedroom and into the living room. This was hanging over my head since my wife got pregnant and I knew I'd need to give the bedroom to our baby. I originally (8 yrs ago) installed the gear in the bedroom because I could wall-mount my plasma there. That's not possible in the living room due to the doors, windows and foot traffic. But I had to figure out a way to get all that gear in the living room, regardless. Here's what I did.

I decided to put the plasma here, covering these windows. It's not ideal, but we don't open these blinds anyway--it's just a view of our street. Wherever I put the plasma also has to accommodate my front L/R speakers, the B&W 802D and center speaker, the B&W HTM1D, so that is a big deal. Those speakers are bulky and there isn't room for other gear or stands here.

I decided to install a shelf just below the window sill, find a stand for the plasma, and place it on the shelf. I used four brackets to support the shelf--well, I had to hand-saw the brackets to fit under the window.

With the shelf properly installed, it was time to remove my plasma from the bedroom and then get rid of the wall mounts.

I then bolted the plasma to the stand and installed it on the shelf, which is tempered glass.

Then it was time to move my speakers into the living room.

Along with the rest of my gear.

This was a lot of work. Not only did I lift the heavy gear but I had to run the cable from my antenna and my phone line under the house to get it into the living room. Now that it's all done I wish I had thought of the shelf idea sooner. The living room is bigger and I get better soundstaging now. I'll try to update my photos soon.
