Default problem with my blue ray player you tell me???

I just recently made the HD jump. Got an LG 37 inch 720p and a ps3. I have noticed that for a few seconds here and there in various blu ray discs there is a weird slowdown/speed up. Is something wrong with my player or discs? Most of them seem pretty clean and new so i am wondering if maybe i have something setup wrong. Also I was thinking of exchanging my lg for a 42 inch 1080 p. I have been having trouble noticing the picture quality difference between the 2. Is it something i will regret in a few years buying a 720p. I am a broke college student and want to make sure i am making a good decision. It is a bit late and i have work in the morning so sorry if this is all over the place. Thanks in advance for the help

-Ian

I'm sorry...I have no technical information about why there is a slowdown on your setup, but I think you should exchange for the 1080P set. If you're broke and can still exchange I would just take the plunge and deal with trying to make some extra cash.

Not to be too uptight, but you don't need the "e" in Blu-ray.

1080p and 720p difference is only visable on screen bigger than 50-60".
what disc are you playing ?
did you manually set the video output of ps3 by disabling modes that your screen can't output ?

What movies are you noticing slowdown with? All movies I have watched on the PS3 have not exhibited this problem, all Blu-ray movies. Although I haven't done a direct A-B comparison between 1080p and 720p, but I have a 720p projector and a 1080p monitor (the monitor is much crisper even when I reduce the projected size down to the same size, although I would expect it with the size of my monitor, a monitor will always beat a projector for a small size, projector's come into their own with a bigger screen. I intend to upgrade the projector early next year to a 1080p. Are you having a problem seeing the difference between 1080p and 720p or 'normal' TV and 720p? Have connected the TV to the PS3 with a HDMI (or suitable DVI) cable?

Default problems with blu ray player

I first would contact sony on this issue, and if they say contact LG then do it. You should not have any slowdowns with any of the movies in HD, however if you are playing standard dvds on the Playstation 3 I guess maybe there could be a slowdown. If you have not updated the firmware on the playstation 3 then I suggest do it.
