I think he's referring to the rumor that Universal will go format-neutral after the holidays.

Universal won't go neutral but Blu-Ray will have Superbad and other great comedies.

Come on guys, anything regarding movies from Paramount or Universal on Blu-ray is pure speculation right now. There really isn't any reason to expect Universal to suddenly decide to release movies on Blu.... yet.

Honestly this is one of those titles where an upscaled dvd would be fine for me.

You can expect them to release Pan's Labyrinth on Blu-ray next. After that it probably depends on sales.

I would like to see this on Blu-Ray also, but don't feels so bad. The review on highdefdigest.com indicates that Universal did a horrible job on this one. The color of the people is "YELLOW". How can that happen on a huge hit like this?

Once again I fail to see how a film like this will greatly benefit from any HD format. Sure it will look better, no doubt, but is it worth the extra price, the pain and disappointment of not having the right format, etc..? I think watching it up-converted will not detract from the film in any way.
it will be just as funny in SD as in HD.

You are correct. I already watched the movie in standard def (upscaled) and it looks great (or good enough). Based on the reviews (PQ/SQ) I am not sure I would buy this movie in HD anyway.

With a few exceptions Universal is going to need to redo many of their titles to improve the PQ/SQ before they will be accepted by the Blu-ray fans. A simple port will not make the grade.

Comedies are the only genre that I don't mind it being Standard DVD only. No special effects or action sequences. There's usually at least one hot girl in each comedy; IMO that would be the only reason for it being in HD
