I'm in Vancouver and unfortunately there aren't any good stores that I know of, other than the bigger chains.
Is all there is... Wish there was a BluRayBin or the like, but none that I know of. |

There are three best options for independent DVD, Blu-Ray retailers I know of from living in Vancouver. I should point out that the three below will charge you extra for the big release titles (especially with Disney titles), but they have been a good source for carrying the secondary releases, re-releases, cult films, and remasters the local big chains stores have slowly started to not carry.
In addition, stores like Future Shop and Best Buy have slowly over the past year dropped 60-80% of their inventory in favor of beginning to sell house items and furniture (in a store that was dedicated to electronics lol). The HMV on Robson closed down a year ago (the lower level was immortalized in "This Means War") and the closest HMV to Vancouver is the one in Metrotown mall. * The C&L Warehouse It is the best place to look for the hard-to-find titles you're looking for. The warehouse itself is open to visitors, but if you become a member, you can receive marginal discount offers from how much you purchased from there recently. They have a lot of Blu-Rays and DVDs, as well as manga and they have begun selling DVD-R titles over the past year. * Videomatica Sales They're the remains of a once well-successful video store. They share store space with a local record store, Zulu Records, and have been doing reasonably well selling DVDs and Blu-rays after rental stores in Vancouver began to taste the crunch. * Vancouver Flea Market I would say Charlie's Music for all your used, re-owned DVD needs if they didn't close two years ago. I guess the Vancouver Flea Market is your next best option. They are only open on weekends however. |
