Well, God Bless Amazon UK, my favorite branch by a landslide. Came out on the 19th and I received it in Canada today, always impressed with their service and low shipping rates.

On my 3rd listen (remix only pcm 96/24), and not using my better gear I can say it is an excellent remaster. This album always sounded somewhat harsh in parts, you can't do much when their unique sound is so freakin loud. But this master is much quieter, you can tell that that "clipped" feeling really comes from the Marshall stacks and the overdriven Lesley. Drums were always the best sounding, bass the worst, and it's still true but nothing like before. This isn't a quiet album, it's one of its strong points, captures the rawness very well. One part which was the most evident of a better mix is the insane drum solo. It really comes alive, better detail in the secondary sounds. Every beat on his snare, even with his insane rolls are defined and alive. If only for this, it's a good purchase, Paice never sounded so freakin great

Going to listen to both versions on this one and the download included (haven't yet) and my many editions, for me, and for many, this is still the quintessential live hard rock/pre-metal album by which most if not all to follow would be judged.

Really is a first impression, and an excellent one, no-brainer for fans and deserving of any rock music fan's collection.

Edit: No MC, only stereo (pcm 96/24, TrueHD 96/24, DTS-HD MA 48/24 and DD 640 kbps)and for those who know me, stereo only is often a no purchase, unless it really is a spectacular remaster. I haven't run any tech tests on it but I'm happy as a clam

You had me at "Drums were always the best sounding".

This reissue of the 1972 album seems to have virtually all bases covered with TWO super deluxe box sets (one is a 4CD+DVD offering, the other a 9LP set), a two-CD deluxe edition, a 2LP version, a Pure Audio hi-res Blu-ray Audio, HD downloads and last but not least, the humble one-CD remaster!

Finally, the Pure Audio Blu-ray Audio will have both the 2013 remix and the original 1972 mix (remastered) in high resolution, but will not feature the full 1972 tour audio that is present in the big boxes.
I'll prob get the blu-ray one, & this one below*, so I have these in my car to listen to (LOUDLY)

Super Deluxe Edition box sets

Both boxes offer the full 1972 Japanese tour newly remixed (by Martin Pullan). The CD-based set includes the following:

4 x CD
DVD
• 7” promo single
Deluxe 60 Page Hardback book + memorabilia
• MP3 and HD Download card

The first CD is the Osaka gig from 15th August, the second is Osaka again from 16th August, and the third disc is Tokyo from 17th August. All the encores from every night are gathered on a fourth and final CD. The DVD includes the documentary The Rise of Deep Purple Mk II as well as some other rare clips. Even better, this box comes with a high definition download of the original Made In Japan album; both the new 2013 remix and the original 1973 mix (remastered).
* Sad to say, but this might be worth waiting on a bit:

Item Under Review:

While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)

We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

This will cost a few bucks, & WHEN I have said $$$$$, they will be mine.

According to the onscreen listing on the Blu ray the DTS HD MA is 24/96 not 24/48.
