Formed from me reading the Splinter Cell thread and reading that merrick plays inverted. I want to know how many people out there play games with inverted controls. who hates it, who loves it.... is there a certain genre you play inverted versus others?

LOL never thought of it like this, i just feel like the object in games are almost point and click now.... if an enemy is on a hill up and left, im gonna move the analog stick up and left to kill him as i would a mouse...

I don't think there's a physiological reason to prefer either one. |

I understand the intuitiveness of the inverted controls, but being accustomed to the normal controls keeps me there. What drives me nuts is when the primary weapon controls are L2 and R2 rather than L1 and R1. It's not safe. I use the middle (bird) fingers on the 2's. If you lay your index finger up alonside the barrel of a gun, you'll more than likely damage it.

I can't remember, do any PS3 exclusives do that? First time I ran into that issue was Red Dead, which I chalked up to be lazy porting. I think it's certainly more comfortable to do that on the Xbox, but it's absurd with the PS3.

When L3 is something important I get screwed up, as well. I must have a heavy thumb, because during vigorous use of the left stick, I often hit L3. I kept accidentally making Alice enter Hysteria with that one. |

The last Silent Game didn't have inverted y camera option (only while aiming) so I wasn't able to play that game. I think in the first ps3 ratchet, the space level was not inverted too and had a lot of problem with that. I don't know why I always played that way, maybe the first games normal was inverted?

I pretty much always use inverted. Actually I'm just too lazy to change whatever the default settings are for any game that I play. Though I do prefer to have my L2 and R2 be the fire buttons on my controller, so I do swap those in the COD games.
I might even be considered inverted-inverted since I'm thinking about getting one of those thingamajigs that lets you use a wired XBOX 360 controller on a PS3. The controller was the only thing I ever liked about the 360 and I've never been a fan of the Playstation ones. |
