Default Ipcress File My Thoughts

In case you did not know ITV have released The Ipcress File on Blu-Ray over here in the British isles. The film was made in 1965 and looks pretty impressive. Grain is there light grain though (film like some might say) and is more apparent in some scenes. Detail is good especially in dark shadow scenes skin tones can be bit warm red sometimes but pretty good none the less.

Overall though your not going to get a better presentation of this film or release any time soon in the US. So if you really like this movie import it. It's well worth the upgrade and because it's ITV it comes in a nice slim case.

Although audio is only Dolby digital 5.1 and there are subtitles. It's also rather cheap to.

£12.99=$19.97

That was a good flick but the studio should put out the other two movies for a boxed set.

I ordered IPCRESS FILE fom Amazon.uk and it just arrived. However, it was shipped from a "preferred merchant" and it comes in a slightly thicker keep case. This blu-ray is a gift for my brother, so I don't want to open it. I ordered one for myself about six months ago and it came in a standard sized keep case. Anyone know why this copy comes in a slightly thicker keep case?

Probably a repressing, the larger cases are the main standard in the UK. Distributors will use whatever case is available at the time of manufacture.

Thanks for the info! I've ordered only a handful of UK releases and they all came in standard size keep cases. Caught off guard by this. So all releases from now on in the UK will be in this size keep case? Thanks for info!

Well, the copy I bought for myself was REGION FREE. This new one I got for my brother I'm not sure of. Like Clark Kent said, it must be just a repressing of the same disc only in a slightly larger keep case. Didn't know that was the standard or the new standard with UK discs.

Those other films have nothing to do with the distributor.

It is a great transfer. This reviewer didn't think so though https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-I...y/1641/#Review Leaves me with a bit of shock that they rate the film a 3½ out of 5!

Classic British cinema but maybe only for British people
