I'm just curious because I made a vow to stop doing it once I made the upgrade to bluray. My DVD collection was too random and didn't reflect my taste at all. I feel like my BD collection is an accurate representation of my taste (of the stuff that's been released on the format so far).

I've had a few blind buys, but try to keep them to a minimum. Mad Men and now Boardwalk Empire will be blind buys. All my Pixars were blind buys--the three Toy Stories as well as Monsters Inc, Wall-E and Ratatouille. My wife loves those types of movies, so I see a lot more of them in my future. Especially since we're expecting a little girl in February.

I actually blind buy more often then not. I am likely to avoid paying a premium at the theaters and instead spend 20 bucks to enjoy a movie for the first time on my decent home theater.

This is pretty much my stance. I'm cutting the cord in a few months, though, and expect an increase in blind buying some cable TV seasons. Even if I haven't seen something I have already researched it.

i do maybe one blindbuy a year. I bought too much junk without seeing it. Now I redbox the film before buying. I really wanted True Grit but i'm so glad i Redboxed it. I nearly fell asleep.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes was my first blindbuy for all of 2011 and it was a good choice. |

I haven't in a long time and won't ever again!
![]() If you pay for Netflix or Blockbuster monthly, there is absolutely no reason to take a risk on a blind buy. I see so many people buy and regret it. You can not return an open Blu-ray for a different selection. That's reason alone to put it in your queue and watch it first before buying! |

Blind buying for me is cheaper than going to the movies... I hate renting because I hate paying for things I can't keep. I typically blind buy most titles then can usually sell them on ebay for what I paid if I don't want to keep it. The only things I Netflix are comedies (since they are rarely funny).

I actually blind buy more often than I go to the theatres. I generally don't buy anything for full price, so it's cheaper. If I don't like it or think I won't watch it again I can sell it and re-coup some of the cost. You can't do that with ticket stubs. I also get a lot of newer stuff from the library. It's usually only DVDs where I live, but if you just want to see something you can't beat the price.
