Blu-ray Baron

I sometimes don't buy a blu-ray because the original aspect ratio is 1:33.1. A full-screen blu-ray looks better than a full-screen dvd, but I have realized I prefer widescreen movies in general, so I end up just sticking with the full-screen dvd unless it's a really special movie (like Modern Times). So in turn I rarely blind-buy full screen blurays. I do the same thing sometimes with 1:85.1 versus 2:35.1. I'll never think twice about blind buying a 2:35.1 bluray because that's my favorite aspect ratio and it's also the ratio I have noticed to have the best quality. Even if the video quality may be problematic, I dont notice it as much and because the 2:35.1 aspect ratio in itself looks like a work of art. I don't know if it's in my mind or not but I feel like I have read more bluray reviews of 1:85.1 blurays with a minor video upgrade from their dvd counterpart, yet when I read bluray reviews of 2:35.1 blurays, I feel like those aspect ratio blurays get higher video upgrades when compared against their dvd counterpart.
I know that I should just buy blurays based on the movie regardless of its original aspect ratio, but it's not so and a lot of us in here have weird purchasing habits. And anyway, this habit of mine saves me some money! ![]() Does anyone else have blu-ray purchasing habits revolved around aspect ratios? |
