Angry Someone stole my car radio!!

My lucky streak ran out on me: I am now a victim of theft. Two items were taken from me: i) the faceplate from my car receiver, and ii) an old CD player with cassette adapter in the storage bin (that I couldn't bring myself to throw away).

Unless the thief needed to replace a lost or defective faceplate for an identical car receiver, having just the faceplate is useless because it's not designed to work with other JVC head units (i.e. not an interchangeable component).

I just needed to vent. I'm shopping for a replacement now.

Ya it sucks.

Happened to me right in front of my house... The thief broke a $180.00 driver side window..to steal a 3 year old $50.00 stereo..I should have just left the door open...

Pissed me off for a few days...

I should have known better. My new workplace is surrounded by five hotels, which makes every vehicle in the parking lots a prime target (and there are no security cameras installed anywhere ). I didn't like this location before, and I hate it even more now.

Get one of those $10-20 fake camera's and put it up at your work some day near where you park

Someone tried and steal a sub box I used to have in the hatch of my old Z31. Little did they know it weighed about 150lbs The only thing they managed to do was move it around the hatch area.

I think I'm more annoyed than angry with this situation. Yeah, it's a chunk of change I didn't want to spend needlessly, but I see it as an opportunity to upgrade to a different receiver, even if there was nothing wrong with its performance. I'm bummed because I can't find a new or used faceplate for this model online.

I would if I could, but I have nowhere to mount them. There's no overhead lighting anywhere in the parking lot, and the only exit from the building is obscured by a tree.

Must’ve been a crackhead…..i don’t think any faceplates like that are interchangeable so what’s the point of taking it??

I used to take the faceplate off mine when I had it in a crappy car.

Sorry to hear PrivatePixel.

Back in 2000 my car was also broken into. Took all my CDs, and X-mas gifts in the trunk.

Like you said, this had to be motivated by desperation. The faceplate is designed to work with a particular JVC model and it's not interchangeable with any other model, even from the same year. Faceplates by themselves sell for ~$20-40 online, so it's not a windfall for any seller.

Looks like I'll need to do the same (i.e. remove the faceplate) before I leave the car from now on.

Thanks, man.

Unfortunately, filing a police report won't do much good in this case. Unless I was planning to file a claim with my insurance company (which I won't), for cases like these where the value of the goods taken are somewhat insignificant (by their definition), I know that they're not going to dedicate any resources to recovering it, plus, it's just needless paperwork for them to fill out.

If the value of the goods taken was higher than my deductible, I would have filed a police report, as well as a claim with the insurance company. For something this small, it would likely result in a jump on my premium.

I'm just thankful for no damage to the vehicle, or having to deal with slashed tyres.

All the more reason to file... Trade their non dedication to your problem for forcing them to do mindless paperwork

Once awhile back, I had a radio stolen from one of my old cars. The only person I felt for was the thief. The radio was broken and diden't work. All that trouble for nothing.
