Japan Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD – Nearly 300K Sold First Week

Quote:
Title to be released as part of Sony's new PSP Remaster lineup.

PlayStation 3 is finally getting a Monster Hunter game. Capcom announced Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD Version for the system today.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD is a PS3 version of the like named PSP title (minus the HD part, of course). The game promises full HD visuals, 3D support, shared save data with the PSP version (allowing you to play both on the go and in the home), and online play via Ad Hoc Party. A release is set for Summer.

As the name and Ad Hoc Party might suggest, this actually isn't a new title. Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD is part of a new PlayStation 3 series from Sony called PSP Remaster. This series features PSP titles customized for re-release on PS3.

The announcement of MHP 3rd HD came today during an event held to commemorate the mobile Monster Hunter Club having crossed the one million membership mark.

In the yellow areas the textures have new detail, they're not just higher res and better filtered.

My main gripe in this would have to be the online part. Seeing as Ad Hoc party only supports Broadband connections, I would probably need one of those power line adapters for the job, as I'm so far away from my router.

You mean ethernet connections? That's just to free up the WiFi connection between PSP and PS3.

If you're playing MHP3 HD on PS3 you're not tunnelling through another system any more, the ad-hoc party interface must be integrated into the game.

Ahhh yes, I didn't notice I said that.

But would that mean it would be compatible with WiFi connections it is to be integrated?

Capcom and SCEJ's first 'PSP Remaster' upgraded emulation has been a big success, selling 287,829 units in its first partial-week.

Just goes to show the if they had release Tri for Ps3 like they were originally supposed to, it would've sold really well. Instead they hopped on the Wii bandwagon...
