Default How many hellraiser movies are there

I checked Amazon and found box sets with three, four or six. If there are six movies why do they sell a three and four box sets ? Which is the best box set to get ?

Too many.

4 (are watchable).

9 (total).

The Arrow set has 1, 2, 3 and the Echo Bridge/Lionsgate 4 pack has 4, 5, 6 and 8. Revelations (9) can only be had individually, same for Deader (7) but it is long OOP. There is (was?) also an Image pack of 1 and 2 but those discs are terrible.

Nine, with one more on the way this year.

Hellraiser
Hellbound Hellraiser II
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
Hellraiser: Bloodline
Hellraiser Inferno
Hellraiser Hellseeker
Hellraiser Deader
Hellraiser Hellworld
Hellraiser Revelations

Doug Bradley appears in all of them except Revelations. Deader is out of print and does not appear on any of the multi feature sets. The single releases are generally ever so slightly better in picture quality. Arrow video's box set is currently the only way to get part 3, Hell on Earth. The first 4 are all worth a look and generally enjoyed (though people like to hate on part 3). Part's 5-9 are all direct to video films that started off as something else, but were re-written to accommodate Pinhead and the Hellraiser universe.

Hellraiser Judgement, the 10th film in the franchise is coming later this year.

If you plan to buy them all you want:

and

There are no six film box sets. The rights to the movies are owned by different companies, thats the biggest reason why there are different sets.

The easy answer is licensing rights. 9 (soon to be 10) movies.

This is what I have. However, with my luck, I switched out Echo Bridge with Lionsgate "The Hellraiser Collection" and found it is the same exact print. To include the full screen version for Hellraiser 3, despite the back saying widescreen.

I love the last 5 movies, so shoot me.

They have gore and nudity, not overly long and dragged out, and they are entertaining.

The last one is the worst, but I have seen far far worse. The Hills Have Eyes 2 remake and Jeepers Creepers 2 comes to mind.

Time for the Lionsgate/Vestron line to release 4-8 in a set with the Bloodline workprint included and all of the bonus features for the direct to video Inferno, Hellseeker, Deader and Hellworld intact. Maybe even include III: Hell on Earth with the correct framing, provided that Arrow's rights to it in the U.S. have expired. I don't know. Just a thought. But I think it could be a decent package of the admittedly lesser sequels that would sell at a decent price. I'd buy it.

I would buy that. I believe Lionsgate does own most of the rights to Miramax. I think they gained them from Echo Bridge.

Yep, that's what I've read. Lionsgate's got the rights and with their recent collections like the Wishmaster and upcoming Warlock one (3 films for $25, remastered and with bonus features) selling well and ranking high on Amazon's blu-ray pre-orders chart, I'd think a Hellraiser package like the one I described above would be a no-brainer. Sure, these aren't the films in the series that would have fans as jazzed up as when Scarlet Box was revealed but I'm pretty sure it would sell well. Here's hoping they're considering it.

What I find funny, is when Lionsgate did release the Hellraiser 6-disc set, I was excited. I hated the Echo Bridge release. I "upgraded" and was very disappointed to see it was the same exact release. I mean right down to the Echo Bridge opening logo. I basically bought the same exact release, just a different company logo on the case. Complained to Lionsgate and they basically said, "oh sorry."

I would say three myself.

...but I suppose Bloodline is debatable.

That's the DVD set of III-Hellworld, the one pictured above on this thread right? Yeah, that's the same one I've got. Bought it at Walmart for like $5. It's a shitty set of shitty transfers but that's what we get for a Walmart bottom of the bin DVD release. I think with the success of their Vestron line, they could actually put out a quality release of these films and, considering the fact that it would likely be the definitive physical media version of the lesser sequels, it would please fans.

I saw that on Youtube someone complied all the deaths from the series into one long body slayathon

That is the one. A little annoyed you got it for $5. I'm stationed overseas, so I only have Amazon.com and paid around $19.99. I agree, Vestron line would probably make some money. One can hope that when I new one finally comes on, Lionsgate would cash in on it.

I know how that goes. I like foreign films and many of them don't see a U.S. blu ray release so I'll often import from Amazon.UK. Sometimes if they have a German blu ray on their site that was never released in the UK, I'll go through them and wind up paying $15 USD extra for an item that was maybe only 9 pounds British.

That sucks. One of the benefits of being overseas, is that I can order from amazon.co.uk and have shipped right to my door. But finding American spec DVDs/Blu-rays can be difficult. I have been able to find one company on the marketplace that has region 1 DVDs. They are used, but they have them. I bought the recalled MGM Swamp Thing DVD for like £10. With shipping and conversion rate it was like $15. I haven't been able to find it that cheap anywhere else. eBay has it for $60 to $100 and Amazon.com has it for $50...

Nice. You're gonna come back to the States with quite the collection. Hopefully the new Hellraiser will be worth adding whenever it finally comes out.

There's a much better standalone Japanese blu-ray of Inferno.

Not a huge jump in PQ from the transfer found on the Echo Bridge/Lionsgate releases, but easily the best copy of the film available.
