Default Universal slowing down upcoming releases for HD - sign for exclusive Blu-ray?

Okay-I know some people might think doing this was pointless- but I found the whole thing rather interesting while I was doing it. Universal has a 3 week timer left on their deal with HD - there has been an obvious downward trend in what they have been releasing on HD and what is coming up for release - Could this be a possible sign of an upcoming Exclusive Deal With Blu-Ray? One can only hope!

I'm not getting my hopes up, but I would love Blu copies of the Bourne movies.

Of all the Universal movies mentioned above, The Bourne Ultimatum is the one I would like to own the most.

Thanks for doing that legwork. It is interesting. However, Penton Man has said Universal is not going neutral for a while. I think given what happened yesterday, people really need to listen to Penton Man.

I do think Universal could go neutral around this time in 2008 at the earliest. I do think a lot depends on what Warner Bros. does early next year.

Me too- for all the support they have given to HD there really hasn't been a lot of quality movies they have released.

It's fun to think about, it truly is, but I'm very skeptical about this idea as well. I'm about to make this comment, but please don't take my word or think anything about it. I just keep remembering P-Man's words about talks happening behind the scenes. But again, truly fun to think about.

Do you think they are going to sign another deal with HD - it just doesn't seem logical given the 2-1 ratio that blu-ray constantly has over HD.

I hope not, however, you know money talks. BTW, how do you know their deal expires in 3 weeks?

I think it's slowing down because, honestly, Universal has no new releases to show for this year.

Exclusive would be nice, but I just want Universal to go neutral.

I doubt it. Possibly neutral, but there's no chance they'll go from one exclusive to another.

story over at video business saying hddvd may destroy all hd movies on disc. I will say what I have been saying for a while these people with dual players/or both players must stop buying hddvd discs. You must stop all purchases of any hddvd/toshiba/bla bla bla you know the rest. hddvd must die soon or it will suck down bluray with it. hddvd is the easybake oven of hd players and does not include the light bulb. junk

Given the fact that Paramount screwed them over with the whole Dreamworks issue who knows. I really don't see it happening though given Graffeo's and Korblau's support for the format. I just hope this doesn't start another rumor thread.

don't get too excited... universal usually announces stuff in batches at the last minute... at the beginning of the year, they had nothing announced and all of a sudden... BAM!!! bunch of titles....
