Default Warner acquired the Friday the 13th franchise!

There are now pre-order listings appearing on Amazon and importCDs for the first 3 'Friday the 13th' films being released on Blu-ray from Warner Bros. this January 1, 2013! Not that they are going to be any different than Paramount's but, this does confirm Warner DOES have them.

Please release an entire set! I don't want to buy them individually!

Incredible news! I just hope they definitively do the rights things by releasing a full box set as well as uncut versions and giving these films the deluxe treatment they each deserve. Call up Red Shirt Pictures to handle the special features and this set will be a beauty.

I want the uncut versions as well, but I'm not holding my breath. Everytime the US releases this franchise, they're the R-rated cut versions.

Paramount's current, soon to be out of print, Blu-ray Disc for Friday The 13th is the uncut version... I'm willing to bet Warner will just reissues the same disc unless they decide to make a US localized version of the UK disc.

in terms of uncut versions, 2's lost grue is long gone. I also think five's gore is also non-existent.

the rest of the series cut gore though seems to be in workprint form, so I have no idea how they'd integrate the cut scenes back into the movie - there are no uncut international versions of Parts 3 through 8 - all foreign territories got the pre-cut 'R' rated versions.

A complete boxset with Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X would be nice. I'm not sure if I'd want the latest one included since it was a quasi-reboot. Most fans probably already own Freddy vs Jason. Offering uncut versions and giving us real 3D for part 3 would make it a must-buy.

Heck, if they wanted to they could make a UCE with all of the Jason AND Freddy movies.

I'm sure they'll simply release a boxset and be done with it.

Yeah, same here. I saw them at BB the other day and passed on them because I knew Warner had aquired the rights to the franchise and that a box set may be possible in the future.

one would think Jason Goes to Hell and X will make the box set since WB now owns New Line Cinema....

Groovy. Warner already own the original in the UK, but I've never seen any of the sequels (with the exception of Jason X) so a comprehensive box set would be nice.

Don't own a single movie from the series but have always wanted too, I'll pick up the box set if they do one.

There's no reason not to include the New Line entries since Warner Bros. owns them ("Jason Goes to Hell", and "Jason X"). In fact I wouldn't be surprised if they did a release with the remakes even and even re-issued "Freddy Vs. Jason" which would split a lot of people who own the releases already, including the first 3 Paramount ones.

I'm already somewhat pissed we may be in the situation where we might have to re-buy the Paramount releases all over again, if we are issued a mega box set of sorts. We know they're capable of it, look at the new "Nightmare on Elm St.", no complaints on the execution and how well it was done, but the no word of warning shit is what I really hate about this business. I almost expected them to finish releasing them in the fashion they did "Nightmare on Elm St. 2 & 3."

Warner if you listen to the fans, give us a be all, end all, everything including the kitchen sink box set release. I mean Christ I'm still holding onto the very first "Friday the 13th" box set on DVD because some of the blu-rays neglected special features that we're on that box set, including Part 3's very fun commentary track.

Also since Im interested in 1-3 - I have the Blu Rays of those, but from what I gathered they arent uncut - but they are good releases generally speaking arent they ?
Ill leave the answers to the Jason Pro's
It's a common misconception that Paramount kept the rights to the "Friday the 13th" name which forced New Line to drop the title for the 9th and 10th films.

The truth is, New Line actually owns the title and simply chose not to use it. If you look at the back of the original DVDs of 5-8 you'll see that Paramount actually had to credit New Line for using the name because New Line held the trademark. They probably should have been doing this on the discs for 1-4 too.

To further complicate things Warner had to involve Paramount to co-produce the remake because they own certain story elements from the first three films upon which the remake was based. Then you have Warner's international rights and you end up with a tangled web of ownership between studios that is largely obliterated by this new agreement.

Good! Now put them in one set (like the new DVD set they released with the hockey mask), and throw in Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X for completist sakes.
