New Blu-ray version of Nacho Libre??? - Blu-ray Forum

Does anyone know what the differences are between the 2008 Blu-ray release of Nacho Libre, and the Blu-ray release that came out on July 21, 2009?

According to Amazon, the aspect ratio of the new version has changed from 1.85:1 version:

I wanted to see if anyone had the newer version, and if it is a superior transfer to the older release?

As a huge fan of Nacho Libre (can you tell?) I want to see if the newer one is any better before I buy it...I already have a DVD version, and the 1:85 aspect ratio Blu-ray.

Anyone know why this movie went out of print? Of course when I could have purchased this movie I didn't and now that I got a chance to watch it and want to buy it for my wife (who loved it!!) it's out of print. Do we anticipate this coming back out?

P.S.
Anyone willing to trade for their copy?

Both are the same disc and it's in standard widescreen, not Scope

I'm sure 2.35 is a mistake. IMDb says it is 1.85.

After 1971 it's not even 2.35 it's 2.39.

As I said el Nacho is an 1.85 movie

Never rely on Amazon's technical listings. They pull all their info from databases supplied by the distributors, who rarely check anything.

Lol, seriously, you believe the technical details Amazon posts? They're almost always wrong.

The BD of Nacho Libre is pricey, I'll check elsewhere.

I saw a copy of it at FYE, at full MSRP of course!
It must have been a first pressing, as it had the silver "high defintion" border on the artwork that used to be on Paramount titles

yeah the only difference is the high definition silver lining on the cover art

Just a heads-up: somehow Best Buy seems to be selling these for $7.99 right now. My nearest store actually had 3 in stock. Oh, and because of the 5-day Labor Day sale, it's 30% off, which makes it $5.59. Talk about a steal!

Pleasantly surprised by the strength of the PQ, too. I mean, this thing came out in '06, and it looks really good.
