the lower priced one is a blu/dvd combo pack and it comes with a lower MSRP that's all. Kinda like the sony titles and their now cheaper Sony Essentials version

Be advised that the transfer used for Hero is the old one used for the DVD several years ago. I want to buy this film, but I will definitely wait for a proper remaster to be done.

Yeah, fairly unremarkable image considering how spectacular the film looked on 35. Wish I had waited.

Imagine how much better the arrow volley scene would have looked with a properly done remastering.

I bought the original Hero (BD + DC) with slipcover for $15 at Ultimate Electronics today. Originally $35, marked down to $19, and 20% sale on all movies and games on top of that. Likely YMMV, but worth checking out!

Thanks for the heads up, I picked up the last one at my local Ultimate yesterday for $17, special edition.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen. They made this disc with the best materials they had and this wasn't done with the DVD master. The original distributors will not send out materials for a proper master - this is unfortunately the case with many Chinese and Hong Kong films.

The American BD is actually the best looking presentation of the film available.
