Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence

I've been looking around for so long with finding a clear answer, so now I'll just create a thread and ask. If there's a definitive answer out there I haven't found it and my Google Driver's License should be revoked. Anyway, my question is... Are these releases region-free, and if so which should I get?

The thread "List of International BDs with Better PQ, AQ, and/or More Extras" in the NA forum states that: "Japan - Linear PCM 7.1 (original release)/DTS-HD MA 7.1/Dolby TrueHD 6.1 (re-release) (Region free)", but the user that gave the thread owner the info refers to a HK release? If there's a HK release it's not listed on this site...

I'm so confused right now and want this film badly. Thanks for reading and answering.

Both the original Japanese release (MPEG2) and the re-release "Absolute Edition" (AVC) are Region A locked. There is a Hong Kong release from Panorama which is Region Free according to this. I have no idea about the quality of the subtitles on the Hong Kong release.

I have the absolute edition from Japan, and yes, it is region A-locked.
