This is great news. This is one of my absolute favorite Ealing comedies, and Optimum had a very nice 2-Disc dvd set of it out, so I really hope that it has all the extras from that release as well.

Fingers crossed this might signal more Ealings like Passport To Pimlico too!!!

Talking Whisky galore

I do not know about extras but Optimum have informed me that both Whisky Galore and the Lavender Hill mob will have English subtitles, a most welcome upgrade on many previous Optimum Blu-ray releases. Hopefully they will now do this as standard.

I rented this one not too long ago; it was quite charming. It'd probably look awesome on Blu-Ray.

Release date slipped to 8th August

Nice set of covers for the Ealings though very Criterion like

whisky galore has just turned up also with a nice slipcase like lavender hill mob. This indicates to me that Optimum or their distributors messed up with with not including a slip for Went The Day Well. Have sent 3 emails to them now with no response. Will try calling

At the Odeon in Panton Street in London you can do a double bill with The Lavender Hill Mob

I don't suppose it would be too much to ask for a USA distribution (region 1).

I am a fan of Ealing comedies, including The Man in the White Suit.

Who are you asking, Studio Canal? Its more likely Criterion would pick it up maybe?

Since StudioCanal own it I can't see Criterion getting much of a look in now since SC split from Vivendi-Universal (now NBC-Universal). SC pulled several films from Criterion's catalogue of course too.

LionsGate might pick it up but I'm not sure how big the market would be in North America. The Third Man it ain't.

Lovely wee film and time to go multi-region if you love films.

£10.89 @ Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00525QFBG

That's £9.08 (no UK tax when shipping to USA) + £3.08 shipping = about $19 shipped.

They should subtitle bonus features. I merely understand what old Angus Campbell is talking about . BTW, there is a printing error on the back cover.

I see "...best-loved of Ealing Studio's comedies" -aught to be "Ealing Studios'" or "Ealing Studios's". That's bad grammar though by copy/paste photoshopper designers more interested in their iPhones.

Another error somewhere?

I reffer to: "...brilliantly played by Basil Greenwood...".
