I think the either end of this year or early next year one manufacturer has announced a 2.0 player. I'll got look for it now.

I'll take that back, no release date but here.

Thanks for the info guys. When they hit stores is when i'll get one for living room. The Playstation 3 is in my room because my mom likes the living room to watch her shows and relax when she gets home. Playstation firmware update when available will give me 2.0 specs right?

In theory, yes. We'll have to see what Sony can deliver with firmware updates.

i don't know if what do you mean profile 2.0 beome standard or 2.0 player released. No info when it will become standard (profile 1.1 will be stndard soon).
There is a player that is known to implement 2.0. I forgot the name. Daewoo? Denon?

Denon says they will have a 1.1 player hopefully by Dec.
The 2nd gen dual player by LG is supposedly 2.0 ready but will most likely launch 1.1 also hopefully in Dec.
Samsung was supposed to have the 1.1 ready 2400 out but those plans have been scrapped and the player supposedly dropped.

So the actual count of official 1.1 players out now is zero.
By xmas, it looks like two with prices at $1k or higher.
2.0 won't be out until sometime in 2008.

Why the delay in announcing 1.1 players?
Latest word is that the BDA has been late in supplying some CEs official test disks for certification.

http://ultimateavmag.com/features/907bdint/ (16 paragraphs in)

Reason for the test disk delay is unknown.
Maybe one of the insiders can give us a clue?

No on the 1400. 2400 was possible to be profile 1.1 compatible, but likely will not see the light of day.

So far, the only officially announced profile 2.0 player is the upcoming Daewoo player that will be release toward the end of this year.

The Super Blu Player offers increased HDTV entertainment choices, because it can play 50 to 60 percent more high-def movie titles than either single-format player. With full networked interactivity available from selected HD DVDs, and the capability to handle networked “BD-Live” interactivity in forthcoming Blu-ray discs, it is the latest available technology that plays both disc formats.
BD-Live = 2.0
