Is there a pany or another tv that isnt 3d, that i could save some money on? I dont really want to spend the extra money for 3D tv.

The 42" panasonic ST30 is the best tv you're going to find for under $1000. Regardless that you don't care about 3D, you should still get is because the 2D picture is stunning (and better than most 2D sets).

Yeah but a 42" Panasonic ST30 being $500 is a bet I wouldn't make or a 50" being well below $1000 this year as well.

Just did a 'comparison' for the 42s30 vs 42st30. The only diff is 3d ready.
Is there any diff in quality otherwise ?

The panel used on the 3d tv will give you better pic quality than the 2d only tv. That's why there was the earlier post about buying 3d tv , even if you only want 2d. I'd get ST over the S, no question.
