Default How often and frequently do you watch a film

Hi
I am just rewatching Star Trek TNG on DVD (bought last year so long time before Paramount did the dirty). Because it is perhaps 10 years or more since I last watched them, it is quite enjoyable and although they are familiar, I don't remember the stories so well, and some are complete surprises.

I am curious to know.
How often do you watch a movie? How frequently? Example is it 2~3 times in the first 3 months, or once every 4~5 years.

And what film is one you can watch again and again and again, and why
(Exclude porn, videos for your kids, and music videos)
It doesn't mean that you think this is the greatest film ever made or your all time favourite, just one you can watch again and again.

My answers
I guess I go about 3~4 years before I would watch a film again, then longer for the next viewing. Although there are some that will just gather dust

The one film I can repeatedly watch is "Where Eagles Dare". I have lost count of how many times I have seen it, either on tv, vhs, and more recently dvd.
Richard Burton is fantastic with that wonderful voice of his. Clint Eastwood, cool, young, and slightly bewildered by events.

Personally I very rarely, if ever watch a film more than once. That's why unfortunately, I'll probably never buy a Blu-ray movie but continue to rent them.

I know! I'm letting down the cause.

Some of my favorites, like Seven Samurai or Blade Runner I'll watch 2-3 times a year. Comedies like Airplane or Animal House i've watched a lot more frequently. I think I have Airplane memorized line for line.

I've held off watching Blade Runner, I want my next viewing in Blu.

I'll second the Blade Runner sentiment. Great film. Every time after watching it, can't help but get the Origami book out. Don't know why

How often? Not very.
Akin to reading a book the second(third? tenth?) time.

Just watched Over The Hedge(DVD) for the second time last week.
Blus are getting expensive for one-run viewing.
Need to start swapping with a friend to make it more cost-friendly... or start renting.

Wait...so you only watch about two-thirds of a movie a month? When do you finish it? next month? This is very unorthodox of you. You are......weird....

HAHA

Anyway, normally I watch all my movies 2-3 times a year. There are just soooo many I have over 300 DVDs and now over 60 BD's so yea, not much time to watch them more than 2-3 times a year. Also I am very busy with college work most of the year and dont have time

I watch Shawshank at least once a month... have done so ever since I had the VHS... can't wait for the BD

Others, prolly once every other month or so... my movie collection is getting bigger every week so some movies are getting more love than others. I wouldn't buy 'em if i wasn't gonna watch 'em more than once. even if the cause is great

Depends on the film. When I first got Aliens the directors cut on VHS i watched that every weekend for about three months solid. Cant wait to see that one on Blu-Ray. New Films, if they are really good I might watch twice to three times in a year, but mostly its once are twice then it will be a few years before I watch them again. RoboCop and the Terminator are two others that I watched to death when I was growing up.

There are many films I'll watch only once. Some I'll watch a few times, and a few I'll watch several times.

The ones I watch several times are usually "lyrical films" or romantic, often with great cinematography, a lot of music and dance. Sometimes I'll only hit certain scenes I want to see again and again, omitting the others (going through a bookmark list).

These I have seen a few times:

Music & dance

Lyrical (well, more than a few)

Romantic

Lyrical, Romantic, whatever, whatever

Oh, then there are the cult films. I'll watch some of those over and over

Sometimes I never watch them. I have several DVDs that I have had for a couple years now and haven't watched yet. I will eventually get around to it. I have a few BDs I haven't watched yet. I just don't have the time and when I watch a movie, I have to be in that movie mood. There are times when I don't have anything to do and I still don't want to watch a movie, but I have to have the movie on or close to release day. If I don't buy it then, I may never buy it.

To me, any movie worth watching is worth buying. But I am much like you, I tend to watch most of them one time. Now that I have blu-ray, I'm not about to pick up a DVD when I know it is coming soon on blu. But normally have other things I want to do.

Is to be expected, I am a big fan of my name sake, TRON. Have probably watched the whole thing close to a dozen times or so over the years. I am also very familiar with most of the dialog.

T2 is a movie great favorite of mine. The effects have stood the test of time. Might pick it up this everning in blu...I'm getting an itch.

I guess I would watch them a whole lot more if I had someone to share them with and watch together.

I try to make it a tradition to watch "A Christmas Story" once a year. It will never gets old.

To me, if it's a good film, it's worth seeing more than once.

Films with great depth, like "Stalker" for one example, require multiple viewings to see everything that went into it, to fully understand it.

Another reason for me, is too look more closely at the cinematography, lighting, sets, costume, editing...to study the film's components, including music and dance.

I'll put on a light film while writing a letter, paying bills, sewing, etc. To have something familiar in the background.

Then there's the social aspect. If I want a friend to see a good film with me...
for me these are all good reasons to see a film more than once.

I honestly watch about 10 movies/week. I only own about 150, and never rent, so I rewatch quite a bit. I have watched Knocked Up about 5 times since I purchased it this past Tuesday. I have watched Underworld twice. I watch Dumb and Dumber at least once a week. I continually try to fall asleep while watching movies....and it usually lasts into the second movie.

For me, it is the Die Hard movies. I have them on standard DVD but I will HAVE to get them in Blu-Ray. I would say I watch them at least once a year (each one). Also the 3 Matrix movies, same thing, at least once a year. Blazing Saddles, Kill Bill (mostly Volume I), Lethal Weapon I, and Aliens I can watch over and over again. For my wife, it is: The Mummy movies and any Harry Potter movie. She watches the Harry Potter movies many times each year (at least 8 times).

I watch at least one movie every two days. When Fifth Element Remastered came out I watched that 4 times in three days.

I watch Band of Brothers every year during my xmas break, but the movie I can watch over and over again is 13th Warrior. Only God knows how many times I have watched it.
