Default Panasonic 3D TV - Mega Thread

Not sure who else is pumped for this but after going to Best Buy today and checking out the Panasonic 3D - I was blown away. I was one of those people that thought it was a gimmick and a new way for them to make more money. I can say I don't feel that way anymore.

The 3D was AMAZING. I can only imagine what they will do with it for future releases like horror, action, and the like. If anyone has seen the Panasonic 3D experience - can you imagine Planet Earth in 3D? OMG WOW!

If the prices are not too bad, I just might picked up a 3D plasma. Panasonic that is. I am thinking maybe 58/60" would be ideal.

The glasses we tried on the demo were rather annoying. We then noticed in the brochure that they did not have the right nose guards or whatever they are called. I would also like to see the sides encased to block out light.

Anyone else on board?

yeah i watched the panny demo...it was the best demo thus far. image looked great. while i think planet earth would be great in 3D. it would have to be filmed in 3D which it was not. so even if they do...it will be more gimmick then. maybe they could revisit it sometime down the road and film it in 3D.

panny makes 58" and 65"...and my guess is that the 65" which comes out later in the year with the 58" will be over the 5k marker....which may or maynot be a bad price for you. i think the sammy 65" was 7k...so i would think its somewhere close to that.

Yeah, anything previous would have to be re-filmed in 3D to be worthy.

how did you like the demo? Were you blown away? I loved the water splashing up/out at you and the dirt from the bikes being kicked up at you as well. Was amazing.

I posted this in another thread, while I really want 3D - I will wait and see how much content will be available. If there isn't enough, I won't be buying this year. It would probably a good thing because next year, prices will have dropped, technology will have gotten better and content should be more aplenty. I love 3D and all that, but I am not dropping $7k on a tv. Lol.

yeah that Grand Canyon Trail 3D movie was pretty cool...the water rafting was very cool. best effect yet....with the water splashing on the screen. i thought it was great to be honest.

i think to be blown away....it would have to be on a much larger scale. say 65+" screen and run a demo. that would blow me away. which might be some better marketing for them. if they want people to buy this stuff...i understand that the price will blow them away but only demo giant TVs and they will like it......but they will only buy what they can afford 46-58" maybe.

i'm an early adopter on most tech stuff...got have it with everything. this i'm gonna hold off. right now...there is virtually no support...ie movies, tv channels. the tech is very young in its life....so if they come out with something better next year to correct issues this year...i will be pissed. i mean i know every year will best the prior year. but its not like there are 3 previous generations of 3d tvs. this is the first in its tech unlike my 12G panny plasma.

i do want 3d to work out...but that means that i want everything filmed in 3D then...and we know that won't happen. because just converting the image doesn't hack it. i really enjoy the depth that the panny gave over the others...and i enjoy the depth that 3D alone brings.

That's still a bit pricey. It needs to be half of that honestly.

He meant on as powered on, not just physically on.

Iceage in 3D should look good. I hope. Panasonic is a great company. I have been impressed so far. Hopefully they don't pull a Toyota and our TV's start falling off the wall due to "unintended screw misalignment". Lol.

I look forward to what 3D TV has to offer!

As far as I've heard, Panasonic isn't even admitting to it on 2009 models. It is a big question mark at this time. Also, the nose feel and fit of the glasses is horrible. I was really looking forward to the 2010 line up but with the black level issue, I decided to purchase a Kuro while they were still available.

I love my 800u and my blacks are perfect to me.I have about 17 grand worth of Panasonic/Technics equipment. Many components were bought sight or sound unseen.I don't regret a single purchase.and now that Panasoniv has got the Kuro black levels from Pioneer that so many people were saying were perfect I see no reason to complain about their plasmas.Just like the flickering issue that was said to be "unwatchable".I have'nt seen it on my set.

That's not correct A movie doesn't have to be shot in 3D to be in 3D. It can be converted to 3D.

I visited Best Buy today and tried out both the Samsung LED and the Panny, and the Panny wins hands down. The water splash scene was really cool. The Panny is the closest to the theater experience that you can get. I'm looking to buy around Christmas time frame, when I get back from deployment.
