rather then keep posting this over and over i think a info post once is better
i dont care about post count and HATE typeing :P Part one How to get ppl off the fence Win or lose PS3s will be here to stay there a safe bet sony will not replace it any time soon they use a 10 year plain Unlike the other game systems that use 5 or less PS2 games are still comeing out even NEXT year. Play up that not only is Blu-ray wining but if some way it did loss you still good a good game system Part two How to get gamers to try Blu-ray It is not that hard to get them to TRY Blu-ray movies. The thing that holds the PS3 guys from buying the movies now is cost. Most gamers are straped for cash as is and trying to get them to pay 2 times what a DVD costs is hard. Take FF2 VS 300 i am willing to bet FF2 sells a lot less then 300 why you ask COST most stores are selling it for $34.99 and the DVD $14.99. Thats to much for most gamers and 300 was $29.99 to me thats the max a gamer will go. I think they need to aim for a instore price of $25 +/- $5. with that price its not hard for the gamer to drop $10 more they do it all the time to get the better copy of a game. If they to that you will see sales brake books. Part three Why PS3 sales are not better then 360/Wii This is do to two things one Wii is cheep its is more of a PS2 system. Its not a system for the next gen games its a game cube with a new controler. Why the news groups it up with the other two is do to them not knowing a SNES form a PS2 they dont know any better they just see it just came out so it must be in the same group. Yet the Wii cant play most of the PS3/360 games but you see PS2/Wii games come out that shows you what group it is with power wise. Ok now for the Xbox 360 this has only one thing over the PS3 and that is its been out a year more. So it has more games and game makers had more time to work with it. How dose that change games? you ask take any year one PS2 game now take a new PS2 game you will see a big change in how well it looks and plays as the game makers find out the tricks on how to best use a system. Once the games come out for the PS3 you will see it beat out the 360 give it a year 2 tops. In all i think that the PS3 and Blu-ray are linked a win for one helps the othere and so on. Sony did that the day they made the PS3 use BLu-rays. If any one has any thing to add drop a post one day i hope to get this so well put i can get it into the X-BOTS heads and there thicker then HD-DVD fanboys thou many are one in the same. |

Personally, I think this is what needs to be done if Sony want to make it the Home Media Machine people want it to be:
- Make it possible to watch xvid/avi (and perhaps other codecs). - Add support for both PAL/NTSC, and make it region free for DVD. |

making the ps3 region free will free up alot more and create more hype, boosting bd sales knowing you can get bd's pre release in your country |

PS3 and BD as well will get a big boost from Home, the DVR stuff coming later this year or soon after, as well as from the expected price cut in early 08, as well as the introduction of the 40g PS3 SKU which will serve as the console's entry-level unit. So, things are looking up for the PS3.

The problem with going region free is that studios will delay releasing movies until they end their theatrical run world wide, otherwise the video release will affect ticket sales. So instead of getting a movie four months after it is released in theaters, you will have to wait until the movie has been retired from the international scene, which can be long as the studios must place subtitles for other countries (and this is not an easy task).
So are you willing to sacrifice six to nine months longer release date because you want to have the ability to buy it in Europe or Asia and play it here in the U.S.? As a bad example, Transformers completed it's theatrical run in August and is coming out in October, a mere two months after release ended. Now, are you willing to wait until next summer for the same title? |

I agree PS3 will be around for a long time. I doubt the current versions of Xbox 360 will last 3-5 years tops.
