Default Blu-ray outsold HD DVD in all of Paramount's titles

Blu-ray outsold HD DVD in all Paramount's Titles. The website is in Japanese, but the charts at the bottom of the page are in English.

I am not surprised must give credit where it is due. Thise fanbois can "spin" anything. Even if they lose the week 75-25, they still say they won

this is what gets me now look at this:

Firemaster,

Did you look at the numbers on the chart? The rough average difference between the titles is roughly 3000 discs over 8 months. That amounts to 350 to 400 discs per month.

This is supposed to represent a domination of BD over HD? This is what BD is claiming amounts to a "winning" format? This is what BD is bragging about?

I look at those numbers and I think HDM is in trouble. If they can only sell a total of roughly 250K discs in 8 months, and that is not good.

my response is this:
no my friend that would be HD DVD in trouble..why..its about disc sales right...the sale of your MEDIA the optical disc's and player's themselves..but mainly the sale of disc's

.what people are overlooking and i have said this plenty of times..is a Blu-Ray disc sold is a Blu-Ray disc sold.

Blu-RAY NOT ONLY IS MOVIE DISC'S SOLD
IS ALSO BLANK BURNABLE MEDIA IN THE 12 cm FORMAT, ALSO THE 8 cm format. but the big one SOFTWARE OUTSIDE THE MOVIE industry. how many COPY's of RESISTANCE FALL OF MAN HAVE SOLD SO FAR AT $60.00 each copy.RESISTANCE FALL OF MAN IS AT OVER 1,MILLION COPY'S , COUNT IN MOTOR STORM ALSO AT OVER A MILLION DISC'S SOLD..AT Once again $60.00 a pop.NOW ADD THIS METAL GEAR SOLID :4 a blu-ray disc. how many copy's will that game SELL ON ...THAT'S RIGHT ONCE AGAIN Blu-Ray the strength is the MEDIA markets to sell disc's in that HD DVD does not sell a disc in. that is the real strength of A FORMAT. there is only one HD FORMAT in trouble and thats
HD DVD in my OPINION until it has other uses past movies its never going to be a standard FORMAT that the CE companies other than the MOVIE STUDIOS will support that format.

Default that's good

Those numbers look good for BD. I have no clue why Paramount dropped the format (besides getting bribed). I love the way HD-DVD supporters are changing the facts to meet the requirements of their fiction world (where they think HD-DVD is selling more).

"...HD DVD discs cost way less to create an equivalent title. Paramount is losing money on both formats at this point. They cut losses on the most expensive to create...."

This is the kind of quotes that crack me up. The difference is about .10 per disc at most, and that doesn't inlcude the HD-DVD/DVD hybrid disks that actually more even things out.

That's per Home Media, and the HD-DVD wiki.

Boy, you really gotta give it to Lee Stewart. He's keeping his 700 posts per month up. It's amazing how all of the Acolytes show up at the same time. It's almost like they discuss strategy off line and then come in to support each other immediately after the first one posts. MichaelHDDVD, Lee Stewart, RDjam and Anotheraviator. Find one, you find them all.

more proof they only look at movie disc sales and not the whole picture:

Quote:

As JeffY pointed out - creating BD-J interactivity to match HD DVD on a given title would blow away any additional sales revenue. Add to that larger replication costs, and the losses for BD titles are larger than HD-DVD per disc. Those two things are not going to change in the next year.

my response:

it does not have too EXCEPT FOR THE HD DVD format which is relying only on MOVIES SALES AND NEAR TO ALMOST NO BLANK MEDIA TO SELL FOR LITTLE TO NO HD DVD recorders on the market. not to mention for a format that has no current pro active stance to offer PC software being published on the
HD DVD format because their main SUPPORTER Microsoft has stated "HD DVD or Blu-ray" IS NOT NEEDED FOR software. TO CE COMPANY'S outside of MOVIE STUDIOS why would they want to close off a viable market for their OPTICAL DRIVES..i guess it does not matter to microsoft and pro-HD DVD anti-blu-ray supporters

Query:
(i) are the figures world-wide?

(ii) on the chart, what are the units? Please don't tell me it's single discs -- it must be hundreds of discs, right?

Otherwise the very aptly named "Failure to Launch" sold only three hundred and forty-one copies on Blu-ray and even fewer on HD-DVD ??!!! In the whole world??? How can that be right?

Those HD DVD fanboys are, well I don't want to be mean, but I think they need to double check their facts on, well, everything.

a disc sold is a disc sold..and currently BLU-RAY IS SELLING IN THE MILLIONS OF DISC'S why HD DVD is not this is proof positive that THE HD DVD zealots only look at the market from one angle and ignore the other big market..thats the real truth of the matter the PRO-HD DVD ANTI-BLU-RAY supporters like to gloss over.BLU-RAY IS NOT SELLING VERY WELL. EXCUSE ME ITS SELLING IN THE MILLIONS OF DISC'S what about HD DVD..? huh...yea that's what i thought

That kind of logic is baffling. In which case, just drop the LOSING format (HD-DVD) and keep the one that you were making the most sales with (blu-ray).
