USA World War II in 3D aka WWII in 3D (2011) Blu-ray 3D [Region Free] [History Channel]

Review ihttps://www.blu-ray.com/movies/WWII-in-3D-Blu-ray/32682/#Reviews up but I want to hear some user reviews. Has this been released previously like in a theater? Price is not bad but again, I'd like to hear more opinions.

I am stunned at that review, to say the least. I was going to keep quiet because you never know with the bashing around here, but WWII 3D is the worst 3DBD I have in my 67 movie collection. Granted, I didn't read that it was so short and I didn't read that 99% of the running time was still photos in 3D. The narrative is annoying as all hell, and as mentioned in the review, I got so tired of seeing the historians talking about the 3D pictures while they looked at the 3D pictures!! (Glasses on and all!). Also, I have to disagree with the reviewer that you will stop and look at the pictures... Honestly, the pictures IMO (and only MO!) were boring. Some did have good depth and clarity, but they were just....boring.

It this had been $9.99 or less and had I known what I was in store for I might could suggest it for others, but all I can say is that FOR ME, a WWII buff, this is a huge waste of money.

And yes, blah blah blah cross talk is blah blah blah setup blah blah...but this one had so much cross talk it made my eyes cross. Sometimes the pictures were "sunk" in" while the surroundings were popping out.

Again, just MO...

I'm surprised at what it is, really. History Channel is known for some... dubious programming... so I'd assumed it would be another generic documentary hastily converted to 3D. Finding out it's real archival 3D images, even mostly just stills, actually has me interested... but not $20 interested.

I'm bummed to hear this. I was thinking of getting it. Perhaps when it gets lower in price I'll reconsider....

Yeah, when I saw other reviews on this, I think it is a lost cause. I read the 3D is good only for the pictures. Not sure, but I think I'll pass on this one. History Channel has a history of making lousy 3D docs videos.

I saw this on 3D TV and thought it a fascinating and stunningly good documentary. It is not 99% still pictures either. The 3D depth of the stills, historical movie film and modern video footage was exceptional.

So exactly what percentage would you put it? The entire focus for the first 40 minutes is still pictures. If it's not showing still pictures, it's talking about still pictures. Are you new to WWII? I mean no offense, but those pics that they show, 3D or not, are not amazing or revealing in any form or fashion. The only revealing pic is
[Show spoiler]Adolf Hitler in that one early picture the WWI rally
. Historical movie film? Is this why they had to stretch it out by at least 20 minutes by showing us, the viewer, in 3D footage of other people, in 3D, looking at the same pics? They padded the hell out of this.

I rarely care what people think of my reviews, but in this case I firmly stand by what I saw. "Knowing" the people on this forum for years and what is popular and what is not, I would bet my E.T. film cells that this 3DBD would disappoint anyone at THIS PRICE POINT. It's the only 3D BD that I regret buying and I have had it pre-ordered for MONTHS because I am a major history buff.
