4:3 and 16:9 via HDMI Question - Blu-ray Forum

I have the 80GB PS3 connected via HDMI to a Samsung 22" Full HD LED TV and DVDs encoded in 4:3 show as normal (black bars at sides). My sister has the slimline 12GB PS3 hooked up to an AWA LCD TV via HDMI and 4:3 is immediately stretched to fill the screen. Why is this? Both of our TVs are set to 16:9.

There's a setting in the PS3 dashboard for this. Can't remember the exact title of the top of my head. It's either in video or display.

dvd - wide display (change it to letterbox)
