Arrow Developing: Andy Wachowski & Sister Lana - Jupiter Ascending

Quote:

Lana and Andy Wachowski are prepping "Jupiter Ascending", their first major science fiction action franchise effort since "The Matrix" reports Deadline.

An original creation by the duo, the Warner Brothers project is on track to start production in the spring. Story details are being kept top secret, but discussion about casting is now underway.

The siblings are currently shooting interconnected segments of the sci-fi ensemble drama adaptation "Cloud Atlas". Their proposed "Cobalt Neutral 9", which details the relationship between a gay U.S. soldier and an Iraqi citizen, looks to have dropped off the radar due to funding issues.

It's about freaking time they got around to making movies again! I'm assuming it'll be something above the PG-level.

Most of their stuff recently has been pretty much crap. But, if this intrigues me enough, I'll give it a shot.

I dare say that the title intrigues me.

If it's space based scifi (one can also hope for Space Opera), color me cautiously (after Speed Racers) interested.

I'm curious what you mean by this...

Their last writing/directing gig was Speed Racer in 2008, and before that was their screenplay for V for Vendetta in 2006 and the Matrix movies in 2003 and 1999. Just out of those 5 movies (which are their most recent), I would find it difficult to state that "most" of them are crap.

You've made a good point. I didn't realize they didn't direct Ninja Assassin. They did however co-write The Invasion. So that's about 4 out of 6 bad movies since The Matrix. Obviously, everything is subjective, though.

I've only seen Bound and Speed Racer so far. The latter was okay, but if this new project features lesbians I'm all in.

Note: I'm with GunRanger. The Wachowskis or the Wachowski siblings will do just fine to refer to the two.

I like the title and everything I have seen that the Wachowskis have been involved in has been good (minus the Matrix sequels). V for Vendetta is one of my all time favorites and a lot of that comes from the changes made from the comic (I know they did not direct it).

They only came in for reshoots. Joel Silver said they only helped writing the action.

Mullet must you put that picture in the OP?

That is the scariest thing I've seen all month. PA3 ain't got nothing on that!

As for the movie though I'll give it a shot.
