Jack the Giant Killer

Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer has had its start date pushed back from this summer to February 2011, according to THR. No star has been cast as of yet, but Singer has reportedly met with Aaron Johnson from Kick Ass as well as Andrew Garfield to play Jack, the main character who has to rescue a princess from a kingdom of giants. The New Line/Legendary film may have been delayed due to how effects-intensive the movie will be, as Singer wants the visual effects done “from start to finish” so he can see the actors play against the giants.

Of course it’s also possible that screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie is still working on his rewrite and Singer doesn’t want to begin shooting without a perfect script. I’m sure more will be revealed in the coming days, but either way, I’m excited for the project. For more on Jack the Giant Killer, you can read this interview with producer Neal Moritz.
