Default Rush: R40 Blu-ray

List of $140 and a street price of $120 or so. Kind of expensive except for the completists out there. Admittedly, I have none of these on BD and only a few on DVD. Also, that bonus disc is awesome! I wish I had more bread!

I'm a huge fan, but when I saw the announcement of the set, it was the first time I felt shafted. We are spoiled with releases, but anybody who wants all these concerts has them in some form.

Rush In Rio on Blu-ray (first time available)
R30 is extended from the DVD set, but previously released
Snakes & Arrows Live
Time Machine 2011
Clockwork Angels Tour

I have the first three on DVD, and the last two on Blu-ray. To buy this would be for an upgrade for Rush In Rio, R30 to get the full show, Snakes & Arrows and of course, the bonus disc. I don't have a great audio setup, so the PQ isn't worth an upgrade anyway.

Best-case scenario is the best Barnes & Noble sale that would put it down to $60 with a coupon as a member.

Seems like a good fit for me, being a lapsed Rush fan. During my university Rush phase I got Rio and R30 on DVD and had fallen out by the time the rest were released. I wish it wasn't called R40 though, brings back memories of being very disappointed with R30 when I got the DVD.

Though if I pick up Rush anything it really ought to be the remastered Vapor Trails.

Really looking forward this, mostly for the 1997 footage I seriously hope the full show is released one day, but honestly I'm happy with what we are getting. Pro footage from the T4E tour is something I've always wanted to see, and it will actually be the first time we'll be getting performances of Nobody's Hero, Test for Echo, 2112 in it's entirety etc. on officially released video Can't wait!

I saw on Best Buy's website that they had two version listed. One which comes out tomorrow for $139.99 and one which comes out Tuesday for $99.99. The one coming out on Tuesday has a bonus DVD, while the other release doesn't. Not sure why they have two sets listed, the one with the bonus DVD being less. I would get this, but aside from Rush In Rio and R30 I have the others all on Blu. Now I suppose if I got this set, I could just go to a local used shop and sell the other Blu's to make some money back.

I'm pretty sure the Best Buy edition and the Backstage edition are one and the same, although if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me I'm ECSTATIC for this release, I mean I only had R30 (which I only bought to get the CD version of the show) and CA on DVD, so a few of these will be first time buys for me (Rio, S&A, and Time Machine) even though I have all of these on CD already Holy crap, I can't wait to get my hands on that 1997 footage! I know we aren't getting the whole show, but with the BB bonus DVD we are getting a few extra songs from Molson that aren't on the standard set so at least we're getting a more complete version of the show than originally thought (11 songs out of about 24 so almost half of the show!)

Limelight
Half the World (Previously unreleased on home video)
Animate
Limbo (Previously unreleased on home video)
Virtuality (Previously unreleased on home video)
Nobody's Hero (Previously unreleased on home video)
2112 (Full 7-part song previously unreleased on home video)
Test for Echo (Previously unreleased on home video)
Resist (Electric version previously unreleased on home video)
Leave That Thing Alone w/drum solo
Natural Science

Too cool! Molson 1997 and the St Catherine's show will be my holy grail It's going to be nice to have Lock and Key on an official home video release for the first time in over 25 years! New Jersey 1976 is also a very cool bit of footage, glad to have this all on one disc

Who else got this? I got mine first thing this morning at Best buy

My thoughts on the bonus disc...

Laura Secord Secondary School 1974- Watching literally gave me goosebumps right from the start I've seen bits and pieces of St. Catherines over the years, but to have the whole thing in my hands is just unreal Video has definitely seen better days, but the quality is quite alright.

Capitol Theatre 1976- A hair better than what we've seen on YouTube, but it sounds absolutely phenomenal on my stereo. I wish we had more footage like this

Lock and Key 1988- To be honest, I expected this to look far better than it does. How can the clips of this song on YouTube look better than this? I'm fairly certain this was probably ripped from YT as it looks terrible.. Was this honestly the best they could do? I mean ASOH was released on DVD several years ago, so obviously the original video elements still exist. It seems a little hard to believe they didn't have a better quality clip of this sitting around..shame too, because I was really looking forward to seeing this

Molson Amphitheatre 1997- Worth the price of admission alone, IMO. This was what I was waiting for, and it more than delivered and lived up to the hype Incredible, incredible footage. Can't believe they were sitting on this for such a long time, looks and sounds amazing and is leagues ahead of any of their recent live releases.

Just got home a few minutes ago from Best Buy. Wow, this thing is amazing. I thought it would just be inside a box with a small book, had no idea how big this set was until I got it. Can't wait to dig into this and start watching.

To the folks who have gone through this set, what's the deal with "Rush in Rio"? Is it really HD, partial HD, or upconverted SD? How does it compare to the old non-anamorphic DVD?

Thanks!

I'm wondering this as well. I already have R30, Snakes & Arrows, Time Machine, and Clockwork Angels on Blu Ray - I'd be buying this only for Rush In Rio and the bonus disc. That said, I'd still do it if Rush In Rio is a considerable upgrade.

I'm afraid it's just upconverted SD, looks pretty bad. I popped in my DVD to compare and it looks about the same. No effort was put into this one.

As a diehard Rush fan, I feel betrayed by this release. Not the actual product itself, which is awesome for those that had little or none of this stuff. But I bought every single one of these as soon as they came out, including R30 double-dip when the full concert was made available on blu. My problem is that the bonus disc is seemingly not being made available separately, so if I want it, I gotta buy everything all over again! I'm a diehard fan, started when I was 11 years old ('91), and the sentiment echoes among other fans that already have all these concerts. I hope the bonus disc becomes available on its own.

I will see you there I will be making it to both the Irvine show the night before and the Inglewood show I'm super pumped, have you seen the setlists so far?

I was on the fence about buying it too, honestly, but it was so worth it for the bonus disc alone! I only had R30 and the Clockwork Angels DVD, so it really wasn't much of a big deal to buy a box set with two releases I already had (they were Blu upgrades, afterall!). If I had them all already, I really couldn't see myself shilling out the $80 I paid at Best Buy on release day. If you're that interested about the bonus footage, most of it is on YouTube anyway. Most, if not all, of the Test for Echo stuff was uploaded not long after the release, Jersey 1976 has been around for ages as well as Lock and Key from A Show of Hands. If you have to have it, the only reason I'd say to get it would be for the St. Catherines footage which is pretty amazing

I have/am. I had originally planned to do Tulsa, Buffalo, Toronto #1, Montreal, Philadelphia, and New York. But I flew down for the opening night in Tulsa, and I was so blown away that I decided to add Toronto #2 and Newark on top of what I had already planned.

I can't stress enough how amazing this tour is. My first Rush show was on the first leg of Snakes & Arrows so it's not like I've been seeing forever, but Tulsa was absolutely the best Rush show I've seen. I have to admit the first set was slightly underwhelming, but the second set more than makes up for it; you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wrote a dream setlist as good as the second set and encore are. And the stage show is top notch, even by Rush's standards.

Going to see them this Saturday in Bristow, VA. Thinking about trying to catch the Vegas and/or L.A. show. Looks like they have three slightly different set lists they are rotating?

Seen them on every tour since Permanent Waves in 1980, but am really looking forward to this one.

Yeah, 3 different setlists with 4 rotating slots. However, set A and set C have the same songs in 3 of those rotating slots, there's two songs in the fourth slot that aren't in any of the other setlists though.
