Default Amazon no longer sells PSN games or PSN cards.

Just sharing.
I'll update it with news once there is some.

This sucks !

I loved the option to buy vouchers codes off there instead of having to buy voucher card at some retailer.

I have not and will not put a credit card on file with my PSN account.

I agree. It's not so much that I don't trust Sony anymore (maybe a little) but more that I know Sony is a target against hackers and they are a very persistent bunch. I think if hackers taught us anything, it is that nothing is invulnerable. Even the Defense Dept was hacked.

And here I was about to start using Amazon more for my PSN purchases due to not having to pay tax through them like I do straight from the Playstation Store.

Is this temporary or permanent? I wonder why, I don't see why this would stop happening.

In other news, it seems bestbuy.com still has a few PSN games and PSN cards you can get, I believe sent as a code via email. Of course, their game/dlc selection is extremely smaller though.

You do realize that tax isn't charged on PSN cards when purchased through a B&M retailer, right?

I use PSN cards exclusively; always purchased through Best Buy (not sure if RZ points apply to these purchases; I'll have to check my account) and have never been charged tax.

The tax is typically charged through the transaction on PSN, itself. I can go to Best Buy and buy a card for $20 and not get charged tax, and load it up to my PSN account, but then I get charged tax on the actual transaction of buying a game. If I buy a game that costs $15 on PSN, there will be tax added to that.

What Mouse was probably doing (which I never thought of doing, but is pretty smart), is buying the PSN games, themselves, through Amazon. Rather than buying a card, he's probably just buying the voucher for the game itself, paying the straight price without tax, getting a redemption code, and downloading the game on PSN that way.

I never even knew you could buy the games other than on the PSN, but it sucks if they completely stop selling the PSN cards. I've always used those, not only is it safer, but it stops me from buying just anything.

I wonder if it's a regional thing because I don't recall being taxed on any purchases (games or add-ons) through the Playstation Store.

I did not even though they sold those on Amazon. Granted, Amazon sells just about anything so I should've known.

I just noticed this yesterday as well. I was hoping it was a matter of Amazon simply being out of supply.

you know how sometimes games or movies will be third party only for a while, then go back to being "sold by amazon"

do we know for sure they stopped all together? or are all just going off the lack of psn cards on amazon as of right now?

Yeah comes down to where you live since there are laws that require taxes on digital goods in some places. Although we don't have those laws here and used to get taxed too but they finally stopped taxing us earlier in the year

If your state has a sales tax you will get charged if not no taxes are charged.

I live in a state with sales tax, but I've never been taxed on content I purchase from PSN.

I noticed the other day that while I had bought a 10.00 PSN card a month or so ago, now they were listed at $25.00 for a 20.00 PSN card.

And all the games/DLC stuff was gone. Someone thought it was because of some promo that was going on that day where the GOLD BOX stuff was all games related, but apparently not.

This sucks as often they would have PSN stuff for cheaper than it was on the store.

From Digital Trends

Quote:
Amazon removes PSN codes and vouchers, declares Playstation Network products "currently unavailable."

Amid all of the recent troubles with Sony’s PlayStation Network, one alternative to the that many users chose to explore was purchasing PSN codes and other content via Amazon instead of storing their credit card information on the hacked network. Now it looks like that workaround may no longer be an option, as PSN points, game vouchers, and other digital goods have been pulled from the online retailer’s website.

The disappearance of all things PSN from Amazon was first noticed by PSN Stores, who noted that the Amazon.com PSN site once contained over 500 pieces of content, but now shows a blank page. Individual pages for downloadable games show the titles as “Currently unavailable” and state, “We don’t know when or if this item will be available again.”

As PSN Stores points out, such wholesale removals are not uncommon — there was a similar purge of 3DS products in July — but given Sony’s recent troubles with the PSN, there’s reason to believe this could be Sony’s way of bringing users back to the network.

“We have no announcements regarding this change in selection, however we can confirm that Amazon Digital Video Game Downloads is not currently offering Playstation Network Online Game Codes and Points Cards,” an Amazon rep told the site.

The reason they pulled all psn stuff boils down to taxes, Sony when they made the change to SNEA stopped charging sales taxes on purchases on the PSN in places they used too. However, since Amazon would be considered the acting seller of the content not Sony they would have to collect the sales tax on these items when sold due to Sony no longer doing so.
