United Kingdom priceminister closing

just got this email

Dear PriceMember,

Following much deliberation we have decided to close PriceMinister UK.

All purchasing activity will be ceased on the 02/11/2011. Your accounts will remain open and accessible until the 31/12/2011, allowing you to track and close your purchases, contact our Customer Services and request the transfer of any balance you may have in your e-Wallet.

As you know, PriceMinister is part of the Rakuten Group, who acquired UK company Play.com in September. Following this acquisition we made the choice to consolidate our UK activities with Play.

PriceMinister and Play.com share the same core values, offering a fun, secure and savvy shopping experience for buyers and sellers alike so while this presents a great opportunity for our group, it gives you, our users, an even greater one.

As buyers you will be able to benefit from Play.com's huge range of products, great everyday prices and excellent customer care!

Discover Play.Com

As sellers you will benefit from the huge traffic generated by Play.com as well as a 14 million strong member-base that will really make your sales sore!

Start selling on Play.com

We'd like to thank you once again for using PriceMinister UK and hope to see you very soon on Play.com!

Hmmm. How important does Rakuten think they are that they make their logo almost as big as Play's?

Just finished a chargeback with PriceMinister UK. They'll not be missed by me. I do like some of their other sites (Spain, Germany and .com (France)) but their communication and business skills are poor there too. They are also serial spammers.

We'll have to see what's going to happens.

At first it was a small logo under the Play.com one, but it seems that they didn't think that was enough, so they made it as big. It's not as if Play.com's service can get any worse. I ordered a set of computer speakers the other day but received a lovely 300mm cooling fan instead. It didn't have a 3.5mm jack, so I had to return it

I've always liked Play.com and they seem to sort things pretty quick. I'd not buy anything over a few pounds though as they are not in the UK. A small point the new Japanese buyers do not seem to be aware of by describing them as a "...UK company...". Nonsense.

And don't call me Jack
