This is an excellent movie with an outstanding cast. As relevant, obviously, as when it came out in 1979. My favorite performance by Jack Lemmon ever....
Would make a great blu-ray.... Anyone else like this film? from wikipedia: "The China Syndrome is a 1979 American thriller film that tells the story of a reporter and cameraman who discover safety coverups at a nuclear power plant. It stars Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon, Michael Douglas, Scott Brady, James Hampton, Peter Donat, Richard Herd, and Wilford Brimley. The film was written by Mike Gray, T.S. Cook and James Bridges. It was directed by J. Bridges. It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Jack Lemmon), Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jane Fonda), Best Art Direction-Set Decoration (George Jenkins, Arthur Jeph Parker) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen.[2] The film was also nominated for the Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the 1979 Cannes Film Festival, and Jack Lemmon won Best Actor for his performance.[3] The film's script won the 1980 Writers Guild of America award.[4]" trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PJ-B...eature=related short tribute video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FxtBJ59Jm8 Last edited by benbess; 03-12-2011 at 09:52 PM. |

one of my favorite films of all time. I first saw it in Middle School; they showed it to us right after Chernobyl.
I'd love to see this one made available. |

It would be great to have The China Syndrome given serious consideration to being prepared for a Blu-Ray release. There's no denial that it has not lost it's relevance over the years. Look at the recent issues Japan has had to deal with after the earthquake and tsunami events right on the doorstep of its own nuclear plants. An important movie with a very clear message with lessons still to be taught and learnt for generations to come...
