Hey guys are all the Harry Potter Movies, worth a blind buy?

Im into the Lord of the Rings and Star War movies, but what are these movies like? Are they worth it to blind buy the whole set? What are your opinions on the Films? Is there alot of action?

The first two movies aren't that great, but they're worth watching as stepping stones to the rest of the films, which are all very good. I've never read any of the books and I have no interest in doing so, but I have come to enjoy the film franchise very much.

I would say yes - go ahead.

I have never read the book either, but really enjoy the movies, go for it, or rent them first.

The first two movies are still good and are a vital part of the series. The best thing about them is that they introduce the setting and the characters. It's good to finally see that world for those who have read the books.

Think of the first two movies as you would the two Narnia movies. The children's acting isn't great, but they are fun and it shows the world. The older characters feature some of the finest character acting around.

By Book 3, the story was darkening. The movies change directors and darken along with the story. As the kids age, the movies focus more on the mounting evil than the cutesy factor. They have a much darker feel of impending evil such as the last two Batman movies perhaps. The kids improve considerably in terms of acting.

I love the whole series. Don't expect Lord of the Rings, it's not like that at all. Most of the action takes place in one or two main areas.

The 1st 2 movies I think were the best. Followed by 3 and 4. 5 and 6 were ok but they seem to get better every time you watch them.

Definitely worth a blind buy. I am like you a big fan of Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. I like stories that are carried out over several movies.
I have only read the last book of the Harry Potter series cause I could not wait to find out the ending after the half blood prince was released.
The movies are great, good story from 1-6.I can't wait for the Deathly Hallows release in theaters this December.

well, you have some time to wait for a complete series. Two films left (but the same book), so don't go lookin' for all the films, because they aren't all there yet.

If you're in to fantasy films and getting lost in an original, fun world, I would check them out. Entertaining (at least the first 4 are, never saw any after that yet) and tells a great story.

I may be baised, but these are basically the best movies in the world for me!
They're absolutely amazing. Everyone should give them a chance, at least, no matter what. You will more than likely love them and end up obsessed.
The first two might get a little boring, but from 3 and on, they are surely action packed and filled with adventure and magic and... amazingness. :P
Give them a chance, definitely!

Blind buying an entire series is a little insane, in my opinion.

Rent or borrow them first. If you like them, you can get the standard editions of all 6 for about 20 or so each (most places, I'm sure you can find a sale), or wait for the more expensive Ultimate Editions coming out. From the looks of it, they will release 2 a year, but I'm not sure what the price is... I think around 40-50 each or so?

For me they are kind of like those movies that you'll watch on tv, but not really want to own. Not terrible, but I just have a hard time taking the world serious.

I was thinking the same thing.
Im also into LOTR and StarWars.I was wondering if all the HarryPotters are worth a blind buy,I did see The Half Blood Prince in the theater and really enjoyed it even though I had no idea what was going on.So I was wondering if I should get the rest of the films.Since there are only two films left and I do really want to see them and know whats going on so should I blind buy the series?

The Harry Potter movies suck compared to the books. Don't bother with them. Buy the books instead!

I would argue the first two books are just okay, books three through five are excellent and the last two are horrid.
