The new PowerDVD Ultra 12 is only available as a download option. I will wait until they release the retail box version that contains the printed manual, retail box, and software on CD-ROM. I do not like download versions.

It will be interesting to see how well TrueTheater handles upscaling of content. The mobile app support is of no interest to me, so the upscaling feature is the only selling point for the new version.

Cyberlink should change the name of future versions to “Power Blu-ray player Ultra”, I am surprised that the company still calls this software “PowerDVD”. They would get more sells if the name of the softwre had the words Blu-ray in it. Most consumers that are paying around $100 for this software want the Blu-ray feature. Windows 7 already comes with free DVD playback software.

Wow, it doesn't seem that long ago that they released PDVD11, glad I didn't rush in and upgrade from 10.

It's their brand. If they'd change it, it would be problematic.

But I agree, I've been thinking for a couple of years already that it looks silly since they also support Blu-ray.
Wouldn't it be "PowerBD" though?... Cause it wasn't Power Digital Versatile Disc or something like that. XD

But naw, I just downloaded and installed PDVD11. Oh well, guess I can download the new one as soon as it's uploaded. XD
(Don't worry, I don't approve of piracy, I buy everything if I can. I just use PDVD as a mere video-player for some video-files on the computer...
Music goes through Winamp and other video-content I buy on BD or DVD.
I'm actually someone who still buys CDs...)

I just bought 11 in September... only thing here that interests me is the 3D conversion function for Blu-ray. And I'm sure it sucks anyway ("the effect is amazingly realistic" my rear end), so I'm not $45 interested.

Hm, I'm not sure how it works, but if it's in combination with the nVidia-set, I'm sure it's pretty good.

"Pretty good" by the standards of automatic real-time conversion is still awful.

I hope the issues related to playing a blu ray at 24hz have been resolved.

For those looking for the last release (v11) at an affordable price, or as an upgrade option for later on, PowerDVD 11 Ultra will be on sale this evening for $29.99, from 6:00pm - 11:59pm PST, as a NewEgg Shell Shocker deal. For comparison, the price on Amazon is $62.95.
