Default Blu-ray making a move in retail stores

I was a local store here in Miami (brandsmart) and saw an impressive blu-ray display. I took the pictures with my camera phone(Sony Ericsson W850I). A sony LCD and the Sony BD player set up in the midle of blu-ray disc in both sides. I counted 7 red racks of blu-ray movies and 2 of HD DVD.
I frequent this store alot and last time I was there the blu-ray section was not any way near how it was today. Looks like the gloves are coming off for the holidays and Blu-ray is making a move.

Every store that I go to here in San Antonio has equal space for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.

Hey hey...Brandsmart is also my store (I live in Miami) The prices on high end tv are always (not advertised) $300-$400 cheaper than Best Buy. Which store did you go to? The one on US1 or the one by the Palmetto?

One Brandsmart sells more HD TVs in a Saturday than all of the Best Buys together (in South Florida) sell in a week!

Thumbs down

I was in a local Zellers Store, here in Ontario, Canada, and I see they've joined the HDM world. In my local store, I saw 17 Blu ray titles to 4 HD DVD titles. I made sure to straighten up the BD section, to make it more appealing.

... and why is the Zellers news warranting a down-thumb?

Have you heard that Bjorn's here in SA is adding a Sonystyle store at their location?

My local Costco never used to carry high-def movies, but last weekend I noticed they finally started selling Blu-ray and HD VD discs, with about 3 times as many Blu-ray's. Still not that many compared to DVDs, and much too expensive (most if not all were $26.99, more than I'm willing to pay) but the sign is there and it's all good

Oh, they also had the Sony BDP-S301 boxes stacked up right by the entrance, with a nice flat screen TV on the other side showing some Blu-ray demo disc.

Both the local Best Buy & Circuit City stores also have 2-3x the shelf space for Blu-ray compared to that other format.

That's an impressive looking display, but can someone ask them to put the Blu-ray discs on blue racks, not red? With the blue boxes and yellow panels (eek), my eyes are hurting.

enjoy

Just a quick personal note. I'm getting very jealous of you folks who have places such as Brandsmart and Fryes near you. Despite the jealousy, I am glad some of you are fortunate.
