Default The 100 - Season 2

Hi:

I read that Warner is not going to release the second season on Blu-ray. You know if we can send a message to Warner?

I send one from here: http://www.warnerbros.com/customer-service

If they do not release on Blu-ray I refuse to buy this on Dvd.

I did notice the show Jane the Virgin get a DVD only release, and I figured that would have been on BD too, so it's definitely a possibility it'll happen with The 100 as well, but I don't see any official announcements yet.

There is no official announcement yet. But i knew Jane the Virgin would be DVD only its a drama comedy and usually is only released on DVD. But it sadly looks Like The 100 was dowgraded to only DVD now too.

I hope iZombie is getting Blu Ray released its also a good genre for it and its DC COMICS. Would be weird if it does not get a Blu Ray release i have also seen many asking about it on Blu Ray so thats hopefully a good sign.

WB hasn't issued an official press release yet, but the studio has issued press releases for its other BD releases like The Flash (link) and Arrow (link). Plus, a DVD-only listing has been up at Amazon for a while now. While this doesn't mean anything definitive, it doesn't look good.

I sent a message to WB using the link in OP and told them that I'd buy the second season on blu-ray or not at all.

If so many shows's weren't on Netflix, The 100 being one of them, I bet home video sales wouldn't be so low for shows that don't have huge followings.

i agree Netflix is killing low rated tv shows on physical media. It freaking sucks because Netflix is not even the same quality as Blu Ray and no ownership either because shows are not on Netflix permanently and then we are screwed. But some people are just airheads

Without Netflix I probably would have never watched the first season . The service has pros and cons for home media sales. I know it's been responsible for several purchases I've made, but it's also helped to save me some money on some that weren't for me.

I wasn't saying Netflix as a whole was bad, just bad for shows like The 100.

The fewer people who skip this on DVD then the sooner it goes to non-physical only, and the more WB shows that go non-physical only then the sooner that WB becomes like Fox and tries to abandon physical media as much as possible.

This likely won't get a Blu-Ray release and imo the likely reason for that is some combination of not enough customers buying S1 on BD and/or the big chains like WM, Target and BB not agreeing to carry a S2 BD in their diminished media sections.

Of course it's easier to place the blame only on WB. Viva non-physical media!

What I don't understand is the fact they are releasing The Originals Season 2 on Blu-ray. The rating for The Originals were about the same as for The 100. Both shows have their first season on Blu-ray.

I will not buy the 2nd season on DVD. And I don't care if there is a DVD or no physical media at all. Why should I buy a show produced in HD on DVD? I would only be annoyed that there is a better version on Netflix, iTunes etc.

The Originals first season most likely sold more than The 100's first season did.

Ratings may well have something to do with their plans before any Seasons are released at all, but once even one Season has been released then WB very likely uses a lot of that data to make decisions. So do the big retailers when deciding whether or not to carry a show again. That's what happened to Hart of Dixie, WB reportedly really wanted to get it out at least on dvd, but none of WM, BB or Target would carry it after S2, so off to MOD DVD-R only it went. And it's being able to rate a 0.4 rating on Fridays made it's ratings rather close to what The 100 was getting for it's last episodes (and not too far from the Originals either). All three shows were close in the ratings, but each is getting an entirely different sort of release now.

For some people the benefit between an actual physical product, even in SD, and a non-physical alternative is huge. The ability to actually own the product, not have it be pulled from a service or your library, not have it edited or altered somehow after you've already purchased it. Obviously you feel the other way, that iTunes or Netflix are superior. It's your right, everyone has their own opinion in this of course.
