After playing good side of infamous 2 I came across one of my Boss Battle Pet Peeves so I thought I'd list them and see what others you all have.
This isn't meant that the games aren't good, or to whine about anything its more of a place to vent about stuff that we know will probably never change and know we aren't alone in hating it. 1. Boss is different than entire game seriously, I hate it when you play an entire game, with it training you how to win, how to play smart then you get to the a boss/final boss and it throws all of that out the window. the game GUN is a perfect example, just before red dead came out, it was a western with Thomas Jane as the lead voice. I really enjoyed it, the gameplay, story, voice acting it was just fun for me. until the final battle. when suddenly nothing mattered. I could shoot the boss in the unprotected face and no damage. it was a stupid [Show spoiler] The whole game i was learning how to shoot better and use cover (this was before I started to really get decent at shooters in general) then none of that mattered. in fact i never finished it because of that. 2. Free Roam? not any more Games now are all about open world and big areas that you can run and explore. fighting in them is fun because you can run a few blocks away or behind boulders or whatever and heal, change tactics. its a way to learn and think about the situation instead of just plow through. oh sorry except for the boss battle where we jam you into a tiny area that you can't leave. now all the skills you gain are basically nullified because you have no way to out think the enemy you have to just survive and kill it first. 3. Boss Battle...and about a 1000 other guys. Really? You are up against a creature/robot/thing that is 10 story's tall, has a health number bigger than the national debt, and no damage hurts it except in this one tiny place that it only shows after 5 minutes of attack patterns you have to dodge and memorize so you can shoot/damage it twice before it goes away. but here we will throw an unending swarm of minions to attack you too. that way you are taking so much damage from them that if one of the boss's attacks lands it will be a one hit kill. I get that 50% of the time those spawns are to give you ammo/health drops but come on. I'm fighting a giant whatever, reality isn't a issue, just make a bunch of spawn points of ammo/health around the room (probably small room) that I can grab when they randomly generate. whats the difference. those are the ones I have. I know some claim these are "challenging" but I think that is BS. its just shoddy developing. Challenging is a boss battle with limited health/ammo in the large room with places (possibly destructible) to hide behind. That way you know it can be done with whats given you just need to be more efficient to do it. i'd love to hear examples of when you faced these situations or other things that annoy you that I didn't think of. ![]() Game on! ![]() |
