Default Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2 Blu-ray reviews

As I said previously in this review, we have the new benchmark for both picture quality and audio quality for HD optical. If there were ever a movie or movies you wanted to show your friends and family to show-off your home theater set-up, Curse of the Black Pearl is it.

The news today in Blu-ray land is just awesome. First the 300 release date news. Then the second gen panny news. Then the re-release of The Fifth Element. Then the Narnia news. And now we get reference quality Pirates movies. Boy did we choose the right HD format or what??? I am giddy with excitement today.

Looks like ordering these earlier today was the right choice.

Next to order TFE (remastered) when it goes up on Amazon.com!

I'll be at Fry's Electronics when they open next Tuesday. I do NOT want to be left out on this one come release day!

BTW, I don't see how Upcoming Disc could give POTC a 4 out of 5 in the Extras dept. WTH are they looking for?!

Responding to this thread all in ONE greetings to all BD fans around the world.POTC both are nothing than Extraordinary titles released so far on BD.Now we have BD the unbeatable format and yes we have choose the right format all the way.I'm very happy today hearing all this good news about BD and how BD is if treated very well the result is outstanding and gorgeous.

AVC higher bit rate bandwith is unbeatable codec and Powerful over VC-1 used and optimised only for a Loosing format called HD-DVD.

IF WARNER release sometimes Matrix on BD using the same compression done on HD-DVD MATRIX will never be a purchase for me,Maybe rent it.

Hey You Warner just learn from Sony and Disney how a BD should be treated.

Congratulations to All BD FANS

ENJOY IT

Same here. Which one are you going to, Duluth or Alpharetta? I'm thinking about trying to get them to switch out the Fantastic 4 with one of the Pirates movies in their mini theater that day.

Damn with all these great BD titles coming out over the next 16-18 weeks my credit card will NEVER be paid off! I can't wait for July 3rd either when the Patriot comes out as well. Great movie. I'm glad I bought my PS3 when everyone told it was gonna be crap. Now I can laugh in their faces as I watch these great movies in High Def as opposed to the 360 with games on dvd-rom and that horrible HD-DVD add-on. Sony made the right choice in going with Blu-Ray.

Over at High-Def Digest the Matrix gets reviewed first, surprise!

Quote:
The Matrix Collection:

"Finally, compression artifacts are not an issue. There is not a moment of macroblocking or any noise, even on the many flat surfaces and static shots, which often hold on a particular image for what seems like minutes. And the source itself is beautifully maintained"
Now why don't I believe this?

Quote:
A Scanner Darkly:

"Warner again offers its usual identical 1080p/VC-1 encode for both the Blu-ray and the HD DVD (which are hitting stores simultaneously), and I found it to be a flawless presentation. A direct digital-to-digital transfer, the source is pristine. Blacks and contrast are also perfect -- the image is never too dark nor too light, and whites are spot-on without any blooming. Colors are magnificent, with clean hues -- I spotted none of the noise or other artifacting that apparently marred the standard-def release."
When you've got reviewers (Peter M. Bracke) that can't spot artifacting as painfully obvious as that in A Scanner Darkly, it's difficult to believe any claims of movies 'comparing favorably' to the best on either format.

Indeed I'm proud to show off my Blu-ray and proud to be apart of this forum.

It's great to see Disney on the cutting edge of HD and coming from a former cast member, it's nice to see someone over there 'gets it'. Which isn't always the case.
