Australia Dinosaur Revolution

The Discovery Channel TV Show:

http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/dinosaur-revolution/

At this point all we know is that it was going to be released on DVD in the U.S. only in the format it was aired in (that was a much mangled version of the original intended version that had narration and "talking scientist" moments haphazardly edited in). However, either due to popular demand or demand from the creators, they "delayed" the release for a version more in tune to that of the original intent (no narration or talking heads and more of the stories than what was shown). They are also planning on it being in BluRay format now as well. That is literally all we know, not even a date now. It was supposed to be released earlier last month originally, now no sign of it. However, on Australian sites I there is a pre-order for a BluRay version due on the 4th of January. The thing is, in other regions they may have a different version released than others (and in different region coding, so it won't work on US players, for example). It is also unclear if this BluRay is the new edit or if it is simply the televised version ported over. I'd love to find out.

Here are the links I mentioned:

Also here, even with a temp. cover:

http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/din...07757/10540000

Judging from the runtime posted on both pages (176 minutes) and if you multiply the approx. 43 minute episodes by 4 (172 minutes), this particular release seems to be the televised version.

So, this apparently WON'T play on a Region A player on an NTSC TV I am assuming?

I have a couple of Discovery documentaries and they both have Region B on the disc, however I can't confirm they are locked. It is weird that this and The Last Flight of the Space Shuttle are available here for pre-order and are not even announced anywhere else in the world. There are a few Discovery titles that have been out for a year or so here that have only just been announced in the US, so it may take longer to be released but there is probably a good chance it will be released............. in the future

Haha, thanks for the response, that's so strange to me though given it only even aired in the U.S. as far as I am aware. Well, they were going to release a DVD last month, but I guess I am glad it got delayed for the best reasons. I just wonder which version they are releasing to Australia right now, could just be the same edit on the TV airing.

If you could check to see if those really are region locked, and if they wouldn't play on an NTSC TV, that'd be great!

I'm sorry but I don't have a region A player to check if they are locked. As for which version try to contact the distributor Magna Home Entertainment, hopefully they can be more help
