awesome. the wii game always looked neat and i've been a fan of the franchise from game one. i've been debating picking up the sharpshooter or something like it along with dead space extraction. might hold off on all 3 and pick them up together (when the latter items are hopefully cheaper) closer to october. looking forward to this though.

Default House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut (PS move)

House of the Dead: Overkill Coming to PS3 in 3D

Quote:
Sega's foul-mouthed zombie-blasting Wii title The House of the Dead: Overkill is heading to Sony's console this October.
House of the Dead: Overkill Coming to PS3 in 3D

Sega has announced that PlayStation 3 owners are getting a special Move and 3D-enabled version of The House of the Dead: Overkill this October, featuring an "extended cut" of the game.

The seven stages of the original Wii title have been remastered and HD-ified, and two new scenarios have been added. Sega also promises new game modes and the requisite Trophy support.

As a former Wii title, Move support is to be expected, but the new version of the game also features full 3D graphics for those with the hardware to support it. The game will be on show at E3, so expect more news on it then.

"The House of the Dead: OVERKILL - Extended Cut for the PlayStation 3 system will send players to the shrieking mad heart of mutant mayhem," said Gary Knight of Sega, clearly rather excited. "This time we went further, faster and bloodier than before. We extended everything, even the title."

House of the Dead: Overkill is the former world record holder for the most times the word "f***" appeared in a video game -- a record surpassed by Mafia 2 last year. With two whole new scenarios, though, there's plenty of space for Sega to reclaim the illustrious title. (Thanks for this interesting factoid, Joystiq.)

This I may have to pick up, despite the fact that I own the Wii version. It's a very fun co-op game, very vulgar, and cheesy with a grindhouse feel to the story. I don't care about the 3D part, but the graphical upgrade and 2 new levels may be enough for me when the price is right.

They may have just textured it that way but the doctor on the right's translucent white jacket is a nice touch.

THEY'VE COME FOR BRAINS, YOU'LL GIVE THEM BULLETS!

The House of the Dead: OVERKILL™ charges you with mowing down waves of infected, blood-thirsty zombies in a last-ditch effort to survive Bayou City and uncover the horrific truth behind the origins of the House of the Dead.

Survival horror as it’s never been seen before! A pulp-style take on the classic SEGA light-gun shoot ‘em up series. Back when the famous Agent G was still fresh out of the academy, he teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Agent Washington to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little did they know what blood-soaked mutant horror would await them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City.

I didn't like this game because as a major HotD fan, it was just way too different and 'off' from the classic games. But as a lightgun game in general it was pretty awesome.

Day 1 for me, I love the series and light gun shooters in general, and the Move/Sharpshooter is fantastic for shooters.

E3: New House of the Dead: Overkilll has 60% more content
Quote:
House of the Dead: Overkill is heading to the PlayStation 3 with full Move, 3D support and Sharp Shooter rifle shell support. The once Wii exclusive is getting majorly overhauled and will feature about 60 percent more content. There will be new enemies, new levels, new weapons, more unlockables, more audio tracks and more more more! There's even a mini-game during cutscenes where you can shoot at censored words so the censor bar gets knocked off.

The difficulty level has been increased for all you masochists, especially with the boss battles. Sega has also updated the zombie bodies and it's all now based on motion captured movements and uses realistic ragdoll physics.

I played the updated House of the Dead: Overkill and it still feels like the same light gun-style game you would expect. Plenty of things to shoot at with plenty of gore to spare. You can expect Overkill to be released on October 25 in America and October 28 in Europe.

E3: Hands-on with House of the Dead Overkill Extended Cut
Quote:
Tara Long and I checked out the upcoming House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut, coming soon to PlayStation 3. Sporting a lovely visual upgrade with rather impressive use of 3D and the excellent accuracy of the PlayStation Move controller, it's taken a game that I already liked and turned into one I'm excited to play again.

Check out the video for more of our impressions and stay tuned for more E3 coverage from Tara and I as the night progresses.

Nice and smooth! No.. not the tash.

Naked Terror Revealed
Posted by David Bruno // Public Relations Manager, Sega of America

Following on from my previous House of the Dead: OVERKILL post, I’m pleased to be able to reveal some more exclusive news for you right here on the PlayStation Blog; this time in the form of a new level reveal. We’re proud to announce the details for the first of two exclusive levels from the Extended Cut; Naked Terror.

Naked Terror sees you fighting your way through a strip club (a real hardship I know), the streets of Bayou City and a bar, and not only do you have new environments to battle your way through, you also have new stripper and biker mutants to contend with. The other cool aspect to this new level is who you play as, for this level G and Wash are elsewhere, leaving you to take control of Varla (previously an NPC in the original Overkill) and her stripper friend Candy.

Candy seems to have the required staples for any standard stripper: she has a heart of gold, is wholesome, innocent, yet can be naïve to the world. There is one big difference though between her and her stripper brethren; our heroine is pretty handy with a hand cannon, and skilfully adept at taking down enemies. Sounds like my kind of woman really.

There are connections between her and Jasper (the boss at the end of the Plantation level). It was as a hospital volunteer that she first met Jasper and there a romance developed. Now she works alongside Varla, hoping to one day save up enough money for her and Jasper to leave Bayou City for good. To complicate things further Jasper is Varla’s brother. How does this ultimately all fit together? Well, you’ll have to wait and see when the game releases.

These two exclusive levels cover a new side story that reveals additional details to help you understand the main storyline. That’s your lot for the moment, I’ll be back in due course to reveal the details of the second exclusive level.

I have the Wii version but its such an eyesore and borders on pixel vomit. This looks razor sharp and I might consider buying a Move just for this.
