Just getting a PS3 as an early b'day/Christmas present from my husband
![]() Anyway just wanted to know 1. Can someone explain PS+ (if I have got it right I'm sure it won't be worth it for me but just want to make sure) 2. Getting Move and is it right that the camera has to be mounted on the top of the telly. Also how much room do you need for move to work. I mean whats the least I could get away with? I have two rooms the PS3 can go in, but I really want it in the back room / smaller second bedroom, is 1.5m enough room 3. Sort of rhetorical, I've been a Wii fan for year (love mario and how easy the controllers are to use) anyway I'm not really into shooting games that much or a lot of RPG (carnival/arcade type shooting games are fine), so is there a lot out there game wise for me. I know you can get theme hospital (one of my old favourites) online and my hubby loves racing games where he can race others on proper tracks and tinker with the cars (just got GT5 coming with the PS3) Anyway should I still get as much enjoyment out of the PS3 as I do the Wii? Forgot to say, thanks in advance for any replies.. Last edited by zebredy; 11-17-2011 at 01:53 PM. |

First off, congrats on making the plunge and getting a PS3!! On to your questions.
1: As to PS+ you get exclusive games and some games for free. Also, you get exclusive demos and things of that nature. It all depends on if you want it or not. You do not need it for playing online or anything like that.( I for one don't have it, as I don't feel it is worth it) 2: I am sure you could possibly mount it somewhere else by the PS3, but most people mount them on there televisions. 1.5 m should be plenty of space for it. I have my wii and ps3 in my room and it is pretty small and everything works just fine. 3:They do have games you will enjoy, but if you are into Mario and such obviously that isn't on the PS3. You may not find as many games you enjoy as the wii, but there are plenty of games you will enjoy. Just look in stores and see what may interest you, you would be surprised at games you haven't tried and how fun they are. |

2: Pretty sure per the manual you can mount it on top of the TV, or under the TV sitting on the TV stand. Really depends on how high your TV stand is as the optimal height is having the camera at shoulder level I believe.
I think 1.5 meters may be a little close. It will work, but not optimal, which was my experience at my old house. When I moved and had a longer living room I could tell a huge difference in the responsiveness of the move. Some games actually track your movement closer and further to the TV (ping pong), and when you're only 4 feet away there isn't much movement room. |

Thanks and that's kinda what I thought about PS+ probably not worth it then Quote:
Thank you both for the replies, will give the PS3 a go in the back room, can always move it if I'm not happy. I did see Tetris and space invaders can be bought online so doesn't look too bad Anyway, guy just knocked on the door with my PS3 move bundle (didn't think it would be here till tomorrow or even Saturday), when I opened it all up there were two copies of the latest karate kid movie in the box where the PS3 and leads were. It never said that movie was included when order was placed but too have two copies ![]() |

You will get a lot of entertainment and moneys worth from your PS3. Don't forget, its also a blu-ray player ![]() You can shop online on the PS Store for some cheap downloadable games. They often some of the old school classics for download to. They're a lot of fun games out there but like another poster said, just have a look around the shops to see what interest's you. LittleBigPlanet might be of interest to you. Its fun, easy, different and has a great reply value. Its hard to recommend games without knowing a bit more information about specific genres etc that you like. In any case, enjoy your PS3 and always feel free to post in these forums should you need any assistance ![]() |

1: I don't find PSN+ worth the value they try to promote it as. It gives you discounts on games, and some times free games, but there is a price. If you ever choose not to renew your subscription then you loose access the the material you bought under PSN+, so you have to keep renewing. This was the real turn off. If I pay money for something, I expect it to keep existing.
2: My friend uses the Move in his small room and it works well. He has the camera on the stand under his TV. 3: When I got my PS3 I was going to use it more for HD media streaming to my TV and Blu-ray playing. I bought Little Big Planet because it seemed like a cool side-scroller. I also got Burnout Paradise. I had seen other playing Uncharted but it didn't seem to be my type of game. Then I bought it on recommendation from a friend a year later. It was awesome. My previous system had been an N64 and I was used to lighter games and many of the games for PS3 seemed dark and FPS or violence based. Uncharted comes with an amazing story line. Other games I like are Infamous, Ghostbusters and Ratchet & Clank (another awesome game.) Hope you have many many hours of entertainment from your new PS3. ![]() |

Games have simple graphics at the beginning when the game starts on where to put the Move and it is different for different games. The one with the Pet you interact with wants it low, your pet is on the ground.
The PS Store is down today, all day though, until like 1am Eastern. It may come up later though. I'd get PS+, lots of free and discounted games that are fun like Plants vs Zombies that me and 8 year old play. |

PS+ has been created as a discount/ bonus program for heavy users of the PS Store. The -only- thing you lose if you would be to cancel your service is the access to the -1- free game you get every month. Every content that has been discounted (games) or even Free (like wallpapers) beyond that is yours to keep. Coming from the Wii, you might want to check out LittleBigPlanet 1&2, ModNationRacers, Buzz Quiz, Ratchet & Clank, ... and specifically for the Move check out the demo of Deadmund's Quest now available on the PSN https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-ga...-released.html Welcome on PS3 ![]() |

As Elandyll stated, anything purchased, and discounted, through PS+ is yours to keep. Any of the themes and avatars that you get for free are yours to keep. It's the games (minis & PS3) that you get to play for free that will "expire" once you are no longer subscribed to PS+. If you have a lapse in subscriptions, you can still play the same free games that you were playing after you resubscribe. When asked about the cloud game save storage, staff members said that all data is retained for six months. After that, you'd lose the opportunity to get that back if you haven't resubscribed.
I like PS+ and find it worth it as I play the free games and so do my kids. If you are going to be playing with Move, the recommended distance is at least six feet from the Eye camera. We have our Eye on the TV stand below the screen. Works great for EyePet and everything else we have. |
