Oh my GOD, tell me this is true!

http://www.dvdtown.com/moviedatabase...d-kind/21820/0

ORIGINAL POSTER ART! Hell yes! That is SO much infinitely better than the art posted earlier with the mothership on the cover yet again...please please please Sony, release it this way...I will be in heaven!

I agree. Wasn't this the original poster art from '77?

It's very close. They've added a lot more light and lens flare. But still has a retro feel to it. Very nice!

I honestly do not see an improvement. The spaceship is gone, but the rest of the cover is basically the same. I will buy the movie, no doubt. However, they could have improved on the cover.

Well, that's all good, but the 'yes-factor' on this cover is still:

A Steven Spielberg Film

I love this cover. The original movie poster looks much better IMHO than the other one.

Forresttheman: just click on the link in the first post for the picture.

Everyone who doesn't see an improvement here...

The thing is, I hate it when movies are brought out on home video with covers that give away the end of the film. The last reissue of Rudy was a prime example. The cover was him being carried off the field. I mean, sure most people have seen the film, but come on! This cover is not only faithful to the original poster art design (always a plus in my opinion), but it's a lot more subtle, simple, and eerie. It conveys a lot more of a sense of awe than just showing you the cash and prizes right up front. Anyway, I'm happy. I guess it didn't annoy other people as much as it did me. Personally, I thought it was irritating as hell to have to tell people not to look at the box and not to look at the menu of the previously released DVD if they were watching the film for the first time.

I love this cover. Something about this film cries out for a minimalist suggestive cover that hints at the wonders.
