If there is a problem with the player not the BD, LG could be waiting until the 2nd to release the update. When POTC2 1st came out, lots of players where having troubles but with in the first few days of release, that all got fixed with updates.

I have both Day After Tomorrow and Silver Surfer on their way via Netflix. I had the Samsung 1200 but returned it and got the PS3 about 1 month ago.

Samsung never did send me the firmware software upgrade disc I requested by the way. Sorry to hear that there are problems with this release but I cannot say I am surprised.

I think the PS3 is an all around safe buy whether you are a gamer or a movie fanatic. I think it has the most potential of being able to comply with Profile 1.1 and 2.0 specs.

ps3 is truely the only future proof Blu-player. Well for the fore-seeable future anyways.

I don't have any information on the 3rd gen players. I still stick to my guns on the PS3 as the best buy. Try to wait it out until the price drop. Just my .02. Does anyone else wanna weigh in?

Taking some of the BDs to the store with you and see if the 3rd generation player loads them would be my recommendation. I'd be curious if POTC loads. One can also rent from netflix if they don't own the BD.

Your player won't play "Day After Tomorrow"? Maybe it just has better taste in movies than you do. JK.

But seriously, it really is a steaming pile.
