I was curious if people buy more than one copy of a new release. For instance Pinocchio is coming out on Tuesday and there will be three different ones. The regular Signature edition, the Best Buy Lenticular one and the Target one with a 28 page storybook, Will some of you buy all 3 editions or just the target and Best Buy ones. I have never bought more than one edition of a film regardless of how many editions come out. Right now I am having a hard time deciding between the Best Buy Lenticular Pinocchio or getting the Target one. Are the Lenticular covers cool looking?

Personally, I always buy just one copy of a film. If it's a film I really like, I'll decide if I want the standard release or if a store exclusive is more appealing. There have been a few times I've purchased a second copy of a film, but the packaging didn't sway me to do it. I bought the 3D version of The Force Awakens for the commentary and own all the theatrical versions of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings along with the extended box set.

Do they? Yes. Usually if they want a steelbook copy to stay sealed.
Personally, I will only ever own 1 copy of any film. That's to say that I would buy a 2nd copy to replace a previous copy if necessary (to replace an amaray with a steelbook most likely). However, that first copy will be "passed along." |

I've only bought 2 different copies of a new release once, and they were the Target & Best Buy exclusives of Aladdin. I only did that because it was my favorite movie when I was a kid. I'll most likely never do it again. I don't see the point of it but to each their own.

This is becoming more of a major (and irritating) concern for me because we've entered a time where Target copiously releases BDs with exclusive bonus discs that they don't include in the 4K UHD versions. That's why I own 4Ks that I actually want of JASON BOURNE and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, as well as Target's Blu-rays of the same titles that I don't want--just so I can get a hold of those dang exclusive bonus discs. I have a great deal of respect for Best Buy because they incorporated 4Ks into their exclusive Steelbook releases pretty much the moment the format launched. I desperately wish Target would take note for their own exclusives.

I wish I was that rich but no, one copy is enough already.

the only time I buy multiple copies is if I'm getting multiple exclusives (I own both the digibook and steelbook of Batman v Superman) but besides that the only other time I buy multiple copies is if I'm getting something for someone else (season 1 of Gotham came out the same time as my friend's bday so I bought a copy for myself and a copy for his bday gift)

Collectors of Steelbooks are not buying them for the purposes of reselling them or the value of their collection. It is a packaging preference.
