i believe it will also include the profile 1.1 for the PS3 giving it the ability to boost the bluray's interactivity.

Yeah, I just got an e-mail about Version 2.0 (October 30, 2007).

Its a revision of their TOS.

Wait and see, I guess

I don't know people... I don't think that necessarily points to a firmware update for the PS3 to version 2.0. The "2.0" that they are referring to may only be directly related to the written aspects of the licensing agreement, of which the changes highlighted in red take effect on Oct 30th.

Dear God I hope that I'm wrong though!!! LOL

I'm pretty sure the 2.0 in the terms of service means the 2.0 update to the actual terms of service.

Still I agree that a firmware update is probably coming. Updating the store TOS means they are changing something in the store. which if its big enough to change the terms of service, i gotta imagine its big enough to require a firmware update.

whether its the 2.0 update or not remains to be seen.

this is allvery exciting.

A lot of the "substantial" changes seem to be related to uploading your own content etc..along with what looked like some housekeeping..

I thought about this from the same perspective as you.

But, I'm hoping that this is a real update and we get Profile 1.1/2.0. Josh just posted a possibly related news story on the main page and the buzz I've been reading elsewhere leaves me feeling pretty optimistic about October 30th!

Just to be clear: Firmware version is at 1.93 now. What we're hoping for (and what has been hinted at) is that FW 2.0 will bring the PS3 up to Blu-Ray Profile 1.1. Right?

And if I follow the logic correctly, a PS3 updated to Profile 1.1 will almost certainly be Profile 2.0-compliant because it already meets the necessary hardware specs that differentiate the two. Right?

That's my understanding as well. It would make sense for them to give us the Profile 2.0 "stamp of approval" with this update to avoid any future confusion. Firmware 2.0(+) = Profile 2.0.

This will stop a lot of the FUD coming from those other guys on that other forum.

It may also be the final push needed to get Warner to release our oh-so coveted Matrix, Batman Begins, etc., as PiP has been their main standby for why Blu-ray doesn't have these titles. One can only hope.

I feel like I'm 15 years old again staying up late on Christmas Eve waiting for Santa Claus.

While they could provide a FW update on the 30th the 2.0 update is in reference to this being the version 2 of their user agreement. It has an effective date of the 30th to allow people to close their account if they do not wish to comply with the revised rules.

Anyone else realize that this update is coming just before the 40GB PS3 hits shelves?
