Default Samsung BD-P1000 and newest releases

I've heard a few comments that Fantastic Four: Return of the Silver Surfer and The Day After Tomorrow won't play on the early Samsung, regardless of firmware update status. (I have the latest update, that plays POTC and The Descent just fine.)

As I was going to pick up both of these today, this is quite disappointing news.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Thanks,

Lee

I just picked up Fantastic Four 2 up at Wal*Mart and I just tested it on my Samsung BD-P1000 and it dose work on my player.Took a couple a minutes to load. The preview of The Simpsons pops up first and then another preview and then it went right to the menu.Watched 5 minutes of the movie and it seems to play all right.Cant watch the whole movie now as I have to work. Will watch tonight stright threw to see if I dont have any problems.

It does stink but this is an evolving format and there are bound to be problems for us early adopters. Nonetheless I hope they come out with an update to fix your problem.

I have Fantastic Four Silver Surfer in my BDP1000 right now, and it looks and sounds great! It does take a while to load. At first you get the colored balls across the bottom of the screen for a while, then a white circle of balls for a few minutes -- but then Blu bliss starts to happen. Using analog 5.1 connections and the sound is pretty darn good. Have the last firmware available (June date I believe).

I wasn't able to find Day After Tomorrow anywhere to test. Hopefully it will work without a problem.

The problem I seem to be having is a sort of freeze audio drop. It seems like it happens at each chapter change I experienced the same with the Shooter movie. Maybe it's a bad run I got mine at Circuit City! I'm going to try Best Buy and see what happens.....I'm assuming will all have to get one of the newer models eventually...Jeff

Fanstastic Four worked fine in my bd-p1000 but last night i went and bought the 1400 and im loving that player sooo much more.... Pirates and Fantastic 4 loads up soo much quicker on the bd-p1400.

it is confirmed that an updated firmware will fix the problem with fox movies on this BD-P1200 whereas BD-P1000 seems have a new updated firmware working with BD-J stuff.

Expect one to be release soon.

Update:

Both movies play on my current-firmware BD-P1000, with a little stuttering. The Samsung rep stated that another firmware update will be issued within two weeks.

Hopeful,

Lee
