![]() ![]() I just received my copy of this film and am watching it right now. Unfortunately, it does not appear that Cinema Libre have progressed at all when it comes to releasing Blu-ray Discs. ![]() I just re-read the Video Quality part of Pro-B's review of their Betty Blue release (here), and I have a feeling that the same filtering has been applied here. I also think the issues are exacerbated significantly by the low-budget nature of the film. Essentially, the video looks soft and hazy, and as if it was shot on a consumer-grade HD camcorder. Cinema Libre's presentation is again 1080i. Even worse is the audio, which has been confined to a 192 kbps Dolby Digital 2.0 track. Everything here sounds muffled, including the dialogue, and while I am unsure how much of this is production-related, I can't imagine the film was released to theatres (as it was in February 2011) sounding like this. The audio is actually hampering my ability to view the film objectively, which is why I stopped. This does not appear to be a fantastic film by any means, but nevertheless, it is a shame that Cinema Libre have seemingly continued these shoddy A/V practices on their releases. |
