I found these for sale at the above link, and was wondering if anyone's had any experience with them. They're reportedly made to hold Super Nintendo, N64, and both styles of Genesis cartridges, but I've also read they may work with 8-bit NES and CD-based games, too. I'm not a diehard collector, but cover design is a hobby, and I have a few retro games lying around. So, for those who have used them, what do you think? Are they worth the price or not, and why? ![]() |

I have a couple of them that I got when I bought some used games. I prefer the original case with Genesis, but as nintendo made paper boxes these are a pretty good sub. Occasionally they get tough to close, but they typically hold up well.

I've thought of selling a select few of my used games, but there's not many I'd want to be rid of. I actually got my gold cartridge version of "Ocarina of Time" from Craigslist, for just $20, and it still looks and plays wonderfully. I'm waiting to start any designs until I actually have the cases, though; I don't want to be readjusting dimensions, after the fact.

I have some, but I have yet to try and modify them to hold NES, Jaguar, and 2600/7800 carts. Here's a good source that describes how to modify the UGC to hold a varriety of carts. Best of all, it has pictures.
http://www.thecoverproject.net/forum...p?topic=3294.0 On the other hand, there's someone that is starting to make cases in the same dimensions as the UGC, but instead of being universal he's making them to hold specific games. https://www.seymoronion.com/UGC.html |
